Kids in a pot of warm water may seem like a script from a children’s book, but this happened in real life.
If you first think about it, it’s quite alarming to imagine kids in a pot of warm water, but don’t worry because it’s not what you think. It was actually a clever idea from a mom who was able to turn a set-back into a fun bonding moment for her whole family.
Just last month, a Louisiana mom of five went viral because of her ingenious way of giving her kids a warm bath.
Dr. Marie Harper’s family was faced with multiple power outages and lost water service at their home due to severe snow and ice storms. Can you imagine the inconvenience that this has caused many families? Dr. Marie Harper’s family is among those who were struggling to do everyday chores without running water.
Instead of giving in to stress, this clever mom came up with a brilliant idea!
She saw how much snow they had, and with no running water and almost two days of no proper bath time, she needed to think of a way to clean her kids.
βWith no water service, my sister just used their crawfish pot to melt snow and warm up the water in order to give the kids a bath,β Danielle Manning, Dr. Harper’s sister, posted on her Twitter account.
Y'all… I cannot. I'm dying. With no water service, my sister just used their crawfish pot to melt snow and warm up the water in order to give the kids a bath tonight.

The said Twitter post immediately became viral with more than 5K reactions!
According to Danielle’s interview with WGNO, Dr. Marie Harper had witnessed some people using warm water to bathe their kids. That’s when the idea came to her!
Her family had a big crawfish pot that will serve as the perfect bathtub for her kids!
It may look like something from the story “Hansel and Gretel”, but who would have known that this idea would come in handy?
They started off with a small bucket that they use to scoop up the snow. They filled up the pot with snow, and then melted it.
What happens to melted snow? Well, it becomes water!
They allowed the pot to cool down a bit, and when everything’s ready, her kids, ages 6 and below, took turns in their much-needed warm bath.
Her idea worked, and it was really fun for her whole family!
In her Facebook post, she said:
“We have no running water. But we have melted snow… and clean kids.”

She also shared in her interview with Inside Edition that she didn’t change the water because all of her kids have been in the same tub before and it’s basically the same situation with the pot.
Can you see how much fun her family had?
We will all face setbacks, but if you are willing to work with whatever resources you have, then you might also be able to come up with a brilliant idea like Dr. Harper.
No running water? That’s not a problem with Dr. Marie Harper, because she has found a way to give her family a warm bath and an awesome time too!
