As a driver, we need to stay alert. It is our responsibility to be aware of our surroundings.
Tiffani Lee, an MCTS bus driver, unexpectedly rescued a little girl five years ago.
Little kids are curious. Even if you tell them not to roam around, once they see an opportunity, they will try to explore.
Before you know it, a child can already start walking outside your home. It’s every parent’s nightmare to realize that their child is missing.
Tiffani was driving on her usual route when suddenly she noticed something on the right side of the road.
It was a little girl wearing a white shirt and black pants.
The child was walking slowly, and the child was scared by how the girl looked.
She was all by herself, so Tiffani immediately pulled over.
“She was walking by herself and she had on one flip-flop and one tennis shoe,” said Tiffani to NBC 15.
Aside from the fact that the little girl was alone, the temperature outside was really hot. Danger surrounded this child, and a little more time may cause her to collapse because of exhaustion and heat.
The concerned bus driver called out to the little girl.
Slowly, the little girl, who looked like she was around four years old, came near the bus.
“Where are you going?” asked Tiffany.
She asked her to come inside the bus, and Tiffany asked the little girl to sit down.
“She told me she was on her way to the store. I think I interrupted her but needless to say I think she needed help,” Tiffany recalled.
According to Tiffany, she followed her instincts and did what she had to do to help the child.
We couldn’t agree more. Every parent would feel the need to protect this child.
“I’m a parent, so I knew no parent would let their children out in that kind of weather,” explained Tiffany.
She continued to calm down and talk to the girl while they waited for the authorities to arrive.
“She calmed down because we got to talking about nail polish. She had on pink and I had on Easter purple,” said Tiffany, relieved that the girl seemed fine.
After a few minutes, one officer came and asked where the child lives. She told them she lived nearby but was unsure where her house was. The officer took her by the hand and helped her get home.
According to the police officer, the little girl got home safely.
“She was scared, and I was just concerned. I’m happy she got home safely,” Tiffany shared.
Thanks to the sharp eyes and kind heart of MCTS bus drivers, the little girl got home safely.
There have been similar cases where people find children walking in the streets alone.
It’s a scary world out there and a child roaming around alone is definitely not safe. Good thing there are kind-hearted people like Tiffany.
Though, it’s still our responsibility, as parents or guardians, to make sure that we keep an eye on our children.
