When you find out you are pregnant for the first time, everyone has some advice to give you.
Everyone wants you to meet their gynecologist, using their birthing plan, and hear about how bad their labor was. These aren’t the things new moms want to deal with. They need real information, not opinions and preferences. Every woman is different, and how she decides to birth her children and raise them is up to her.
If you want some real information about the things you need to know and might even be too afraid to ask, Kristen Bell can help.
She has created a video for first-time moms that shows them what to expect and covers all the important things that go on during pregnancy.
In the video, she follows an expectant mother around as she goes to birthing classes; goes with her to a gynecologist; and then finally just talks to her about her own fears, hopes, and concerns. Her humor helps make pregnancy a little less scary and might even answer some of the questions you have about your own pregnancy or birthing experience.
In the birthing class, she asks some awkward questions about cracked nipples and vaginal tearing.
The class instructor tried to answer them truthfully, and the entire class appears to be disturbed by the thought of it all. The men, in particular, seem a little overwhelmed. Still, these are important questions that need answers. These moms deserve to know the truth.
Kristen then takes the expecting mama to her own gynecologist and allows her to ask some questions of her own.
They discuss what it feels like when a woman’s water breaks, how C-sections are performed, and even recovery times. The doctor is honest and professional and offers up some good information for women.
Finally, Kristen and the pregnant mom talk over lunch and get real with each other. Kristen brings up mesh underwear, pads, and other essentials that women need after they deliver but are rarely told about. Kristen even tries to push a watermelon through a rubber band to demonstrate childbirth. After thoroughly terrifying the expectant mom, Kristen sends her on her way with best wishes. Hopefully, this poor mom feels prepared going into her labor.
