Puppy love is a tale as old as time.
Young love can be a beautiful thing. But how young can it possibly start? Unlike Puppies, human babies tend to develop a little more slowly, but perhaps not in matters of the heart.
Having said that, human babies are actually capable of developing in comparatively complex ways.
We do form relationships early on, and given that we grow up in a highly sociable society, quite often children look to their elders for examples of what kind of relationships to form. Sometimes, they can even be a bit beyond their years….and perhaps bite off more than they can chew. Especially when they’re so young they’re basically not yet eating solids anyway.
This could be the case for this adorable young girl as she comes to face some harsh relationship realities.
When she and her dad have a disagreement about whether or not she has a boyfriend, she even gets an opportunity to show us a cold reflection of ourselves.
Chatting with her parents, she is about to meet some cold hard truths.
The most adorable thing about this already cute girl is her southern accent, and how she can’t pronounce the word “boyfriend” anyway!
Mom: Who is jared?
Girl: My boysfren.
Dad: You don’t have a boyfriend.
Unfortunately for these parents, this is not good enough for this steadfast young lass.
Girl: I do have a boysfren!
Her parents are clearly not getting through to her.
Either that or, they don’t even know that she actually does have a boyfriend…or should I say, boysfren? It is of course likely that she actually doesn’t understand what that is. Let’s hope!
When Dad repeats that she doesn’t have a boyfriend, she bursts into tears.
It’s as if the whole world just came crashing down on top of her. Her heart is broken, her beloved boyfriend stripped away from her. Reacting, Mom asks what’s wrong with her.
Girl: Daddy says I don’t have a boysfren!
Mom: But you do have a boyfriend?
Girl: Uhuh
Mom: What’s his name?
And the girl repeats herself again. Jared. Well whoever this Jared guy is, it sounds like he’s got some answering to do to these parents. Could Jared be a character she recognizes (or fantasizes) from television?
Then, Dad has some final shocking news for this lovestruck Juliet.
When he tells her that she isn’t allowed to have a boyfriend until she’s 50, that’s the final nail in the coffin. This girl and her reaction to being told that she doesn’t have a boysfren seems to really have resonated with the video’s viewers, holding up somewhat of an unwanted mirror. A quick look through the comments shows that this is a familiar tune for many.
