When it comes to having holiday spirit, we all have different levels of enthusiasm.
Although big holidays bring families and friends together, the season is also pretty stressful for some of us as we get older. Whether financially or emotionally, the holidays tend to take a lot out of us. Many of us probably wish we could go back to a time when we were younger and the holidays were the most exciting time of the year. On Christmas, there were so many reasons to be excited: snowball fights, good food, presents under the tree.
And of course, there are the Christmas carols.
Similarly, Christmas carols are divisive as well—some people love them, some hate them.
Still, those who love them really love them. That was the case for one very enthusiastic little girl who performed Blitzen’s Boogie with her class in a school assembly. The performance was to have all the kids sing the song while performing some basic choreography for the crowd. Still, one little girl named Lucy was so into the performance that the teachers put her in the front row.
After watching the video, it’s easy to see why.
As the clip begins, the band starts to play while the children have their backs turned to the crowd.
On the musical break, all the kids spin around dramatically—and that’s when Lucy has her chance to shine. Although all the other kids are performing the dance moves, Lucy gives everything a little extra oomph to really sell the performance. It’s also worth saying that her sense of rhythm is unusually dead-on for an eight-year-old!
As the song ends, the kids hit their last dramatic poses and the crowd erupts in applause.
After the performance, Lucy’s mom Kelly Cardillo shared the video on Facebook.
She gave a little context before leaving the video to viewers:
“This is my Daughter at her school Christmas concert. She brought the house down. See if you can guess which one she is.”
It’s clear that the video is striking a chord with viewers—after all, it has more than 18 million views.
Perhaps above all, Lucy’s performance is a reminder to loosen up and live a little.
No matter how stressful things get, it always pays to slow down and live in the moment. During the holidays, that might mean turning up the radio just a little louder when Jingle Bells comes on and singing along. Still, this kind of love for life is something we should all try to keep with us.
Thanks for the enthusiasm, Lucy!
