When a man first learns he is going to have a child his mind is surely racing with all the different thoughts that this kind of news can bring.
And when he learns that his child will be a girl, hundreds of other thoughts must also rush into his mind.
“Will I be a good dad?”, “Will my daughter love me?”, “Will I set a good example for her?”, “Will we find things to bond over?” and the list goes on and on.
For one dad based in Marion County, Ohio, he can rest easy knowing he is a good dad, his daughter loves him, he has set an amazing example, and they have many things they bond over.
Matt Atkinson and his young daughter, Bella, are the best of friends and she loves him like no one else will ever know.
Has he maybe set the bar too high though, for any other man that may one day come into her life?
That’s a possibility!
Bella loves her daddy so much that she wants to marry him; but when she finds out that’s not possible, the young girl is not happy.
Jenna Atkinson, Matt’s wife and Bella’s mom recorded a video of the distraught girl coming to the sad realization.
What started as a fun day looking through family photos, turned into a very upsetting day for young Bella.
She noticed in these photos that it seemed like her dad was already married, and to her mother no less!
“You and dad are married?” the girl asked her mother, “Yes! Do you think you’ll get married one day too?” her mom responded.
Bella took a minute to think about that and soon, her eyes filled up with tears as she realized the man she wanted to marry, her daddy, was already taken.
“There’s no two Matt dads,” Bella says, her voice full of emotion, “Only one,” and with that the girl began to sob.
When Jenna confirms that Matt is already married she asks her daughter who she thinks she’ll marry someday.
“Nobody!” Bella cries, tears streaming down her face, “There’s no more Daddy Matt’s!”
The heartbroken girl continues to cry until her mother offers to share her husband with her.
“Should I share him with you?” asks Jenna, “Yeah!” says Bella.
“Then you’ll be happy?” Jenna asks her daughter, “Yeah!” says Bella again, this time with a small smile forming on her face.
The little girl can rest easy now, knowing she gets to marry her daddy too.
And Matt is just as obsessed with his daughter. Jenna recalls that when he gets home from work, she doesn’t know who is more excited, daddy or daughter.
The pair love to play together, running around outside and exploring new things, painting each other’s nails in the “beauty parlor”, or just cuddling up on the couch watching movies together.
“He has definitely set a high bar,” Jenna says, “for any other boys that come into her life one day.”
