One of the best things about children is their unstoppable enthusiasm.
Once we’ve had a lot of experiences, it’s easy to become jaded and lose some of our wide-eyed optimism. After all, we can even lose excitement for the things we really love over time. For all the effort it takes to raise young children, they give back by offering us a brighter perspective on the little things in life. One video in particular has been showcasing this phenomenon perfectly.
The clip involves an adorable little girl named Madeline.
For her third birthday, her dad decided to do something special for her.
Like many little kids, Madeline has a particular affinity for trains. That’s why he decided he would take Madeline on a real train ride of her own to explore the area near their home. What he didn’t count on, however, is how excited she would be even before they even got on the train. Fortunately, dad was filming the entire experience from start to finish—and posted it all on the internet!
As the clip begins, Madeline is smiling and almost bouncing up and down with anticipation.
From the very beginning, she’s already nearly beside herself with excitement.
To make things even cuter, her dad decides to prompt her throughout the video. “What’s coming?” he asks her. “A train!” she replies with a big grin. Still, things only get more exciting as the train gets closer. First, little Madeline takes a big gasp. “Look at how it goes to us!” she says with astonishment. When it finally shows up, she’s ready to get on.
Together, Madeline and her dad carefully get on the train—and Madeline couldn’t be happier.
So far, the video of Madeline’s excitement has more than seven million views on YouTube.
Above all, this clip is an adorable example of how to give your little one a birthday that will never forget. Beyond that, it’s a reminder to all of us just how exciting the little moments in life can be. Although it may be a challenge to teach our kids all the things they need to know to be successful adults, the truth is that we can also learn a lot from kids. After all, what good is it being a successful adult if we lack a positive perspective?
Special thanks to Madeline for reminding us what it’s like to be a kid again!
