Life is unpredictable and sometimes you’ll be given trials that will test your strength, faith, and hope.

When Eileen and Benjamin welcomed their first-born daughter, Rosalie, they always knew she had a fiery personality.

She was independent and loved to do things her way.

Rosalie’s life changed forever

Like most of us, the Parkers were so excited to celebrate Christmas. One of their church friends asked a favor to Benjamin to see if he could come over for a few minutes.

He said yes, so he picked up Rosalie and went directly to his churchmate’s home.

It was December 4, and it was Charlotte’s birthday. Eileen was with Micah and Charlotte, attending a meeting for the PTO when something unexpected happened.

As Benjamin was turning into the driveway and he didn’t see an oncoming car. In a split second, Benjamin and Rosalie were T-boned in front of their home.

Benjamin only suffered some minor injuries, but his daughter suffered a fractured rib.

Her liver was also torn, so they rushed her to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

The injuries that the little girl suffered did not alarm the doctors. They told her parents that in no time, Rosalie will be back in full health.

After two days of feeling “just fine,” Rosalie developed a high fever, and she didn’t talk or reacted too much.

They rushed her back to the hospital, and that’s when it happened.

“We were downstairs (at the hospital) because some friends had come to visit. We heard on the intercom a code blue, and they said her room number,” Benjamin said in his interview with EIN. “We raced to the elevator, and someone was there. I said, ‘This is an emergency. Our daughter is dying.’”

Rosalie’s parents saw how the doctors and nurses tried to revive the little girl. Benjamin and Eileen held hands and prayed.

For the second time, Rosalie coded.

Further checkups led to the discovery of A Streptococcus bacteria that had already formed in Rosalie’s blood.

It saddened doctors when they saw the bacteria had spread throughout her little body.

The staff designated to Rosalie told the Parkers that Rosalie’s organs were shutting down. They told them it was almost impossible for her to get through this.

If she does, she will need dialysis for many years. Aside from that, Rosalie’s brain function would also stop.

Hearing this would make any parent’s heart ache in pain.

The people who loved Rosalie prayed hard. Even the nurses would visit her. There, they would play music and sing to her.

Only a miracle would save Rosalie’s life.

Even though the young girl had awoken, her condition was still dangerous. By this time, the sepsis had caused her blood to stop flowing. Her limbs turned dark brown to black, and the only option was to amputate them.

Rosalie had a total of 17 surgeries, and this little fighter surpassed all of these and went home, finally ready to start a new life.

Soon, the people in their loving town, such as aides, church members, neighbors, family, friends, her teachers, and her classmates, made sure that Rosalie and her family knew that they have a vast support system ready to help them.

“Her confidence has just grown huge. She had pretty bad anxiety before the accident, and I don’t see it anymore like I did,” Eileen shared. “She is just more fiery than ever.”

The reporter asked Rosalie if there was anything she misses about having feet and hands, and then, the little girl thought for a while.
