Erin Barsness and her husband Bryce have three little girls.
And her older has gone viral for her sweet actions in taking care of her baby sister.
Erin, known as “Mama Bear Bliss” on her home, style, fashion, and parenting blog, has made the news before (for seeking out an Uber driver she had a heartwarming encounter with).
But this time, it’s her own sweet family driving traffic to her blog and social media sites.
The best big sister
Barsness’ oldest daughter Decklyn is a big fan of her little sisters and takes special care when it comes to the youngest in the family, Emmy. (The couple also has a daughter named Norah.)
A moment the mom caught on film one day was just too sweet not to share.
“When Emmy was crying Decklyn ran over to her and started comforting her and consoling her I went to get up to go help her and kind of relieve her since she was the first one over there and she turned to me and she said no mom i got this and that was when I hit record,” she told Good Morning America in a video interview.
Calming a fussy baby
If you’ve ever been around a crying baby you know the reactions it can evoke, and there are many.
But we’re often drawn to try and solve the problem or hightail it out of these so someone else can.
Decklyn could have easily gone to her own room and let her mom handle things, but this kiddo stepped up big time and calmed her sister in the sweetest way.
“Just the way she was caring for her baby sister and the things she was doing and saying and just her mannerisms were so soft-spoken she had that instinct of patience and kindness and she didn’t let herself catch the feelings of her little sister but instead held those feelings of comfort and I was so proud of her for that,” Barnsness recalled.
That’s a pretty big deal for a kid – it’s not easy to step into a situation where there’s yelling and crying and try to fix it without getting frustrated. We know from experience! So props to Decklyn!
Kindness goes viral
Not only did the video that Mama Bear Bliss shared go viral enough to be picked up by Good Morning America, but GMA’s video of the sweet pair has been viewed nearly a million times in just a couple of weeks!
“What a wonderful loving little girl, and what a great mother! She’s clearly passed her loving, nurturing heart on to her daughter. I love this,” said a YouTube commenter.
While the family shares a lot of their lives online, this moment wasn’t carefully curated – it was a spur-of-the-moment act of kindness that a mom believed would make people smile.

We sure felt good watching this beautiful family and sweet Decklyn.
She’s also a great big sister to Norah, the Barsness’ middle child.
And it seems pretty likely that she’s picked up these habits from watching mom and dad.
