When Andie Griffiths and Victoria Barker of Shrewsbury, UK, got serious he was well aware of the fact that Victoria didn’t come alone. In fact, she was a package deal.
He’d also be sharing his life with Victoria’s daughter Brooke. And he did just that, taking on the role of stepfather.
A growing family
As the years went on, Victoria and Andie had three children together: Cory, aged 5, Charlie, 3, and Sapphire, 1.
And while they were all very much a family, Brooke wanted to make it official.
Father’s day surprise
So, she devised an elaborate Father’s Day surprise to ask Andie if he would adopt her and be her dad instead of her stepdad.
And it was all caught on video! The video shows sweet little Brooke, who is 7, sitting beside Andie with a huge grin on her face wearing a zip-up hooded sweatshirt.
To her right is Andy, who is opening up a Father’s Day card as little Sapphire walks over.
Reading the card
The other kids are playing around while dad reads his card.
He slowly reads the outside and then the inside, taking every word in.
At the end of the card reads: “P.S. Look at me after reading the card.”
Under her jacket
So, dad looks up and that’s when Brooke unzips her jacket to reveal a pink t-shirt that says: “Daddy will you adopt me?”
Andie immediately loses it upon seeing what is written on his daughter’s t-shirt.
He sinks back into the sofa and wipes away tears from his face while mom keeps recording and can be heard giggling.
Hugs and tears
He then starts to get real emotional and sits up to grab Brooke up in a big bear hug.
The two cry and hug for a bit before the video ends.
You can tell by dad’s reaction that he really loves his children and even though Brooke isn’t his biological daughter, he loves her just as much as he would a biological child.
An emotional sight
It’s truly touching to see a dad’s love for his children be so visible.
Dad’s can be pretty good at hiding their emotions sometimes!
But there was no holding back in this video.
It seems that Andie can’t wait to get the upgrade from stepfather to father.
And Brooke and Vicki got Andie good.
He had no idea this was coming. The mom and daughter were the only ones in on the secret.
Planning for weeks
They had been planning this Father’s Day surprise for about four weeks before the big reveal.
The rest of the little ones in the family weren’t told since there was a chance that they wouldn’t be able to keep the secret.
According to the video’s caption on Happily, COVID restrictions have prevented the adoption from becoming official but the family will resume the adoption process once restrictions are lifted.
That video not only warmed the hearts of dad Andie and his family but millions of people around the world on the internet.
The video was viewed more than 1.1 million times on YouTube. And that’s just on Happily’s page!
“Omg, I couldnt help but cry. Andie you are one proud daddy to all your kids,” one person wrote on the video’s YouTube post.
“What a beautiful post. What an honor for both of them, just lovely. Enjoy your dad little one,” said another.
