Losing a child is an awful experience.
Many kids go missing all over the world every day. Some of them are returned home to their family safe, and others are never seen again.
Wang Mingqing’s daughter disappeared when she was 3 years old. He and his wife had taken their daughter with them to sell fruit. When they were ready to pack up and leave for the day, they realized that their daughter was missing.
Of course, they organized a search for the toddler, but she wasn’t found.
Months went by and then turned into years, but Wang never gave up hope of finding his daughter. He continued to search for her every day. One day, he decided that he needed to find a way to reach more people. He decided to become a taxi driver with the company Didi Chuxing.
He put a large sign in the back of the taxi window with information about his daughter and her disappearance. He also started handing out cards with her photo and information to everyone who got in his car. He also shared his story with them.
While many people would be annoyed about hearing about a cab driver’s life story, people seemed to really care. They listened to what Wang had to say, and many even wanted to help him find his daughter.
He told the Chinese media that he believed that one day his daughter could end up sitting in his car.
If that happened, he wanted her to realize it and also know that he never gave up looking for her.
One day, a woman named Kang contacted Wang and told him that she didn’t know her real parents and felt like she may be his long-lost daughter. She took a DNA test, and everyone waited for the results. On April Fool’s Day, the results were delivered.
Knowing the date, Wang wasn’t too hopeful. He knew that this could all be an elaborate joke and he hoped that people wouldn’t attempt something so cruel. Part of him knew that Kang was his daughter, but he needed the DNA results as proof.
Sure enough, the results came back that Kang is his daughter.
It turns out that she had been adopted by a family that lived nearby and had grown up in the same city in China where she was born. The fact that she was so close by the entire time was hard for Wang to understand. How had he never found her? Once Kang grew up, she moved away and started living on the other side of the country.
One of his cards had somehow made it to her, and she realized that she resembled the child in the photo. All of Wang’s hard work had paid off. He had been searching for his daughter for over 20 years, and finally, they were reunited.
He couldn’t have been happier.
While the father and daughter will never get back the time they lost, they can work on building their relationship and plan on spending a lot of time together in the future. Wang said;
“I can’t tell you how much hope, disappointment, and despair we have gone through these past 24 years. Now we can finally meet again.”
The details surrounding Kang’s disappearance and how she was never found by anyone who was looking for her have not been released.
Wang isn’t worried about it, though. He has his daughter back in his life, and that is all he has ever wanted. Hopefully, they have a lot of years ahead of them to make memories together. He is just glad to know she is safe and happy and is glad that she knows that he never gave up looking for her.
