Deciding to become a parent is a big responsibility.

But Jenny Marr and her husband Chris Marr of Texas were ready.

They were overjoyed to start trying for their first baby.

They just didn’t expect that they would be first-time parents to four babies all at once.

They never assumed that they would be parents to children who had a one in 11 to 15 million chance of being born together.

Jenny was about 10 weeks pregnant when she went for her first sonogram.

As some of you may know Chris and I are so lucky to be blessed with the pending arrival of our identical quadruplet…

“Dr. Murray began doing the sonogram, and all of a sudden she got this funny look on her face and turned the screen away from us,” said Jenny told The Washington Post. “I immediately started thinking something was wrong with the heartbeat. I told her it was okay and that she could tell me if there was a problem.”

The doctor quickly explained that there was definitely a heartbeat but also that there were three of them instead of just one.

At that moment, Chris passed out. When he woke up both parents were in tears.

“It sounds horrible to say, but I don’t know if it was necessarily tears of joy,” Chris said.

“We were completely overwhelmed and frankly, terrified,” said Chris.

They had a deja vu experience at their next visit to a high-risk pregnancy specialist.

“Yet again, the sonographer got this weird look on her face,” said Jenny.

“We asked her what was taking so long, and she told us that she wasn’t supposed to say since she’s not a doctor. But she ended up blurting it out anyway, something along the lines of: ‘Ya’ll, there are 100 percent four babies in there.’”

Chris jokingly said he was afraid to go to the next appointment out of fear that Jenny was carrying even more children.

Both Chris and Jenny had no history of multiples in their families so they were in complete and utter shock.

Things got a little bit tougher after that.

Having four babies is scary enough, but having them during a pandemic is something no one ever dreams of happening.

Jenny went into labor at 28.5 weeks when she had anticipated giving birth at least 30 weeks

She ended up delivering her babies via cesarean section on March 15, which was the day before Dallas County issued their stay-at-home orders.

The babies were all born within three minutes and they were all boys, which is even rarer than your typical cases of quadruplets.

“This situation is so incredibly rare that there are only about 72 documented cases of spontaneous, identical quadruplets ever,” Texas Health Dr. Brian Rinehart said in a news release from the hospital.

Three of the boys needed oxygen and all four boys stayed in the neonatal intensive care unit for 10 weeks.

They came home at the beginning of May.

“It is so fantastic to have them home,” Jenny told Dallas News. “It feels good to have a pattern and feel a little bit more normal.”

Now the family is working on helping Hudson, Harrison, Henry, and Hardy to gain weight since they were each born at just 2 pounds or less.

In the meantime, they were happy to have their story to share with the world.

“We just hope that this little story and our boys bring as much joy to everybody as they bring to us,” Jenny told TODAY.
