If your child did something bad at school, how would you react?
It’s heartbreaking to see your child get bullied and it hurts much deeper when you find out that it was your child that’s doing the bullying. It would really make us question where we went wrong as parents.
A single mother had this experience when she found out that her son did something horrible. But what did she do as his mother?
Samm Jane from Warwickshire explained what happened in a TikTok video.
Her son’s school called her and explained to her that her son was bullying a classmate. When her son came home, she found out that he called a girl various derogatory names.
The school also shared that he had been throwing pencils in class. It was also revealed that he has been sending horrible text messages to one of the girls in his class.
Due to data privacy, these are the only things that Jane knew.
As a parent, however, she intends to get to the bottom of the case and set her son straight. According to Daily Mail UK, Jane said that his behavior was unacceptable, especially since she taught him how to respect women.
When her son got home, she asked him to unlock his phone and show her the text messages that he has been sending. She was mortified with what she has seen.

“I never want to see your ugly face in school.” She recalled, “Your ugly face and fat body offend me.”
Jane was boiling with anger.
Her son said that he only did that because the girl “does his head in”. Jane said that he has no right to do that to anyone.
She shared that with his son’s words, the girl might grow up feeling insecure. She couldn’t let it go.
After a deeper investigation, she found out where the girl lived.
Instead of protecting her son and enabling his actions, she dragged her son to the girl’s house so he can apologize.
“I told Dave we were going around to apologize. Not only to the girl but to her parents, to her aunts, to her uncles, to whoever was in that house,” she said.
He also made her son buy chocolates and flowers with his birthday money.
Jane and her son got the chance to formally apologize to the girl and her parents. She promised the girl’s family that her son will never talk to anyone like that ever again.
Besides other disciplinary means, she also sat down with her son to reflect on what he has done.
For her, it’s all a matter of principle. She shared that by disrespecting a girl, it felt like her son was disrespecting her. She also emphasized the effects of words and actions on other people and that it was a lesson her son should never forget.
The girl’s parents deeply appreciated what Jane has done.
The mother said that not all parents will do what Jane did. Jane also revealed that she had her own brush with bullying and knew what it felt like.
To her, being a parent is not just providing – it’s raising a better generation that came after her. May the young man learn his lesson and become a man of understanding, compassion, and respect.
