Betty Udofiah hadn’t seen her son, Marine Lance Cpl. Abasiono Udofiah, in over a year.
That’s why her reaction to him surprising her with his homecoming is one of the most extra homecoming reactions you’ll ever see.
And in the best way possible. Betty missed her son so much that she basically created a shrine of him in her home.
“He’s not going to be here, why don’t we put more pictures so when the family comes they can see his picture and know he’s doing well, he’s serving the country and we miss him. So, we did that,” she told Militarykind.
Abasiono missed his mom so much that he wanted to make his homecoming extra special by surprising his mom.
“I had my whole like, all my sisters and my brother in on it and I tell them when I tell mom I’m coming home, when I’m going to go home I’m going to surprise her,” Abasiono said.
Betty was that everyone was gathering around for a family picture.
But it was just a ruse to surprise her with her son’s homecoming.
And the entire thing was caught on video.
That video ended being watched more than 2 million times on YouTube.
It starts with mom hanging out on the couch while the grandkids hang out on the other couch.
Betty was smiling and laughing and enjoying family time.
More importantly, she was totally unsuspecting.
We see a woman walk through the door with a baby.
Then her son appears through the doorway.
She’s totally oblivious that he’s there until he taps her on the shoulder.
What happens next is absolutely hysterical and joyful.
Betty lets our a scream. But it doesn’t really sound like your typically happy scream, though she is very happy.
It actually sounds more like a scream you’d hear in a horror movie.
She keeps letting them out as just put her hand to her mouth in disbelief.
She still sitting on the couch just shaking her leg and screaming “wow, wow, wow” over and over again.
This goes on for at least half a minute to a full minute before she rolls over on the side of the couch and then rolls back into an upright position while still screaming the entire time.
She finally gets up but she doesn’t embrace her son right away. She just stares at him, holding his hand while she screams at him.
She finally goes in for a hug but, yes, she’s still screaming “wow” and is wailing it into his ear. She steps back to look at him again while holdings his hands and keeps screaming “wow.”
She goes in for a second hug. And, yup, she is still shaking and screaming.
She keeps screaming as the two sway back and forth in a big hug.
She then steps back to finally catch her breath. Next, she has a bone to pick with her kids who played such a big trick on her.
“The next thing I saw was somebody tap me, I felt somebody tapping me on my shoulder and say “mom,” Betty recalls. “And I turned around and it was my son. Oh my god, I flipped out. I didn’t know how to act.”
