Many people grow up dreaming of the day when they can welcome their own little bundle of joy into the world, starting their own families and officially becoming a mother or a father.
Having children is a magical and life-changing experience, and watching them slowly grow and learn about the world around them is simply amazing for any mom or dad to behold.
As they watch their little ones develop, most parents like to look out for their baby’s big ‘firsts’. The first step, the first laugh, and the first word are all huge moments in a child’s development, and it’s always exciting to find out what that first word will be!
Many parents try to teach their babies some basic words like cat, dog, mama, and dada, repeating these simple sounds over and over, hoping that their little ones will pick them up and decide to repeat them too.
That’s exactly what we can see in this video, as a mom is playing with her adorable little baby, tickling its chin and repeating the word “Mama” over and over, hoping the child will suddenly decide to say its first word.
She continues this technique for a little over 20 seconds, filming the whole thing, but never imagining how it will end!
A lot of moms and dads can get a little competitive with their babies, each one hoping that ‘mama’ or ‘dada’ will be their very first word.
It always feels so special when your child is finally able to address you, and this mom clearly hoped that by repeating ‘mama’ over and over, her little one would eventually get the message.
As the clip goes on, we can see the super cute baby crawling around its playpen, filled with all kinds of fun toys.
The infant garbles something in baby-speak a few times, but no clear words can be made out.
Still, the mother continues to say ‘mama’ again and again, hoping that the special moment is just seconds away!
Then, right near the end of the video, it looks like that amazing moment is about to arrive.
The baby suddenly seems a little different, curiously looking up at its mom for a few seconds as she gives it one last try. ‘Mama? Mama?’ she says, and then, the baby finally says its very first word, but it’s not the one she was expecting!
Instead of saying ‘Mama!’, the little one actually says ‘Dada!’
Instantly, we hear the mom gasp in surprise, totally amazed to hear her little one finally speaking, and surely quite shocked that the baby decided to say ‘dada’, even after all of her encouragement!
This just goes to show that babies will pretty much do whatever they want.
