There is no rule book when it comes to handling a breakup – but if kids are involved, it’s important for the two parents to continue getting along afterwards. However, this isn’t a perfect world. Jealousy, anger, and spite can sometimes cloud a person’s judgment, resulting in negative interactions with an ex.
A situation that can make things more difficult (for some) is if their ex gets a new partner. For example, a woman may feel jealous about the relationship between their child and the “new girlfriend,” leading to unnecessary drama.
One mom from Virginia was put in a similar situation, where her daughter was building a relationship with her ex’s significant other.
But instead of being upset (or treating her like an “evil stepmother”), she chose to take the opposite approach and be accepting. The mom also decided to share her feelings with the world through a heartfelt Facebook post that’s gone viral.
Audrey Loving was 18-years-old when she first met her ex, Corey Henry. Their relationship led to engagement and the birth of their beautiful daughter Riley.
As we know though – sometimes relationships just don’t work out. Audrey and Corey called it quits after a few years of personal and long-distance differences. Because they didn’t reside in the same state, Riley lived with Audrey full-time, but Corey often took his daughter on the weekends and stayed involved.
There came a day when Audrey learned her ex was in a new relationship with a woman named Whitney McGraw. While some might feel upset, the mom didn’t want her daughter to experience negativity.
She told TODAY:
“I come from a blended family — I have stepsisters, half-sisters. Growing up, I heard the negative talk about the ‘other woman,’ and I didn’t want my kid to hear the same thing … It’s not fair. Kids are smart.”
Audrey also recognized that it couldn’t have been an easy situation for Whitney either, starting a relationship with someone who had a child.
That’s why instead of causing drama – she welcomed Whitney “with open arms.”
To share her feelings and show her appreciation, Audrey took to Facebook and posted a photo of Whitney and Riley (who was four at the time).
She also wrote the following “thank you” message:
“This is my daughters fathers gf. The sweetest thing ever! I’m super thankful for her because when she visits her dad she feeds her, takes care of her, buys her gifts, and basically takes care of her like her own.”
She continued:
“Why do all these moms act so spiteful and jealous towards the other women?? NOONE said it was easy trying to be a mother to a kid you didn’t have. So when there is someone trying don’t push them away! Because they DONT need the drama they WILL leave and then your stuck with someone who is the evil step mom. Yes they exist! I see them every where!”
Audrey offered some advice to moms who were in the same boat.
“A kid can have two moms because in my eyes the more people that love her I’m happy!!! I would never make her feel like an outsider I’m extremely thankful for this girl ❤️❤️❤️ Ladies grow up and focus on being a good mom not worrying about what’s on your baby daddy’s girl friends Facebook and Instagram while your kid is right next up you. Love more hate less!!!”
Her powerful message spread like wildfire, and as of now, it’s been shared 284K times on Facebook.
There have been many positive comments left on the post – including ones from moms showing their own appreciation to the special women in their kids’ lives.

Although several years have passed, and unfortunately, Whitney and Corey’s relationship didn’t last (according to another FB post) – Audrey’s message is still opening eyes and touching hearts.
