Maria’s pregnancy journey has been nothing short of shocking.
The 36-year-old Denmark woman already has a 2-year-old with her husband Anders who she met on Tinder four years ago.
Maria and Mikael wanted to give their son Mikael a sibling and decided to try and get pregnant, according to Daily Mail.
And boy did they get pregnant! Not only will Mikael get a sibling, he’s getting three.
Maria was astonished to discover that she was pregnant with triplets even though she didn’t undergo fertility treatments.
The chances of that happening are about one in 4,400. At this point, Maria’s entire world was shaken up.
“What a journey this has been! From the huge shock of learning there were three, to people’s reactions, the numerous scannings/checks and all the preparations and planning for this life-changing event. Nothing like the ordinary,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
She and her husband had to ditch their hybrid SUV for the equivalent of a minibus to fit all those car seats.
They would also have to reconfigure their tiny 860 square foot Copenhagen apartment to accommodate their incoming family members.
But the most shocking aspect of Maria’s triple pregnancy was the rapid change in her body.
What started out as a small pouch at 12 weeks turned into a massive baby bump that she needs to hold up with two hands at 34 weeks.
Maria decided to document the changes in her body in a series of photos on Instagram.
Those photos ended up going viral and were shared more than 18,000 times. Maria now has more than 135,000 followers on Instagram.
“I’m glad we took these pictures because this collage really shows the massive growth. It’s strange to have ended up with such a big belly and it’s even stranger that it can stand out like that without falling down!” Maria wrote.
And she isn’t lying! Her belly is pretty massive for such a svelte woman.
And that’s just one of the struggles Maria has experienced during her pregnancy. She also shared photos of her pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP).
PUPPP is a pregnancy-related rash.
The rash covered her entire stomach before spreading to her arms and legs. That’s on top of caring for her 2-year-old. Thankfully, she only has a few more days to go.
And when its over, she will welcome three fraternal twins into the world: two girls and a boy.
That means she’s currently carrying three eggs and three placentas.
“In two days we’ll finally meet our babies, and I wont have to drag around this 20 kg bump anymore. We are SO ready for the next chapter!” Maria wrote on Instagram.
