Children and school – they don’t always go well together. One mother constantly kept hearing complaints about her son being rude towards others. Disciplining him didn’t really help much, so this clever mom found a creative way to stop her son from being rude to teachers.
Mom Becky Crandley from Kent suddenly surprised her son Harley at his school, the Sittingbourne Community College.
She decided to sit right beside him in class, to make sure that he would behave himself in front of the teachers. The boy’s behavior had been an issue for the entire year, so Becky decided to take matters into her own hands since everything else didn’t work out.
“It all started last year with his behaviour change, it’s part of growing up I think, but it’s his rudeness and disrespect I cannot stand.” mom said to The Mirror.
“I have had phone call after phone call about his behaviour,” she added.
All other measures simply had no effect, and those included numerous detentions and even isolations.
“He’s had an untold amount of detentions and isolations but nothing seemed to bother him.”
Becky doctored out her plan perfectly, she asked the school for permission and they were willing to give the idea a shot.
The mom offered to join the maths class on Friday, which was also the last lesson of the week. Becky hoped that her sitting there would be such an embarrassment for her son and that he’d finally learn his lesson.
“I constantly threatened that I’d sit with him in school if needed, and he always laughed it off. Since they’ve been back this year I’ve had several phone calls already.”
“So when his maths teacher emailed last week and said about an incident, I said to her I would join him.”
“He didn’t have a clue, and he was very embarrassed for sure, I was introduced as his mum.”
According to mom, a lot of Harley’s classmates couldn’t hold back their laughs when she entered the classroom. She also kept a close eye on Harley’s math exercises and made sure that he actually paid attention to the teacher.
The room was fairly calm for a while and Harley seemed to behave, but it didn’t take long before Becky started to get annoyed by the behavior of some of the other students. She hopes that other parents will follow her example and join a class to take matters into own hands.
“Today’s children are getting worse by the second,” she mentioned. “I think more parents need to act upon their children’s behaviour. It’s scary to think what we will leave behind one day.”
Becky now hopes that her message has been delivered successfully.
The mom also assured everyone that her son was never aggressive in any way, but his behavior was just downright unacceptable and had to be dealt with.
“Most people know I’m a big softy when it comes to my kids but I’m also straight up and try my hardest to teach them the right way in life.”
“One thing I will not tolerate is disrespect from my sons towards any woman and my eldest has been rude recently in secondary school towards his female teachers.”
“His mummy bear has had enough for sure, my foot is down and I will not lose. If only I got a picture of his face when I walked in and sat down next to him, he went so red there’s nothing I can compare it to.”
One thing is for sure: Harley will probably be hearing about this for a while since the story and the picture mom posted on Facebook has gone viral around the world.
