Never doubt a mother’s love.

Because even in a life-or-death situation, they would definitely sacrifice themselves just to protect their children at all costs.

Sadly, a mother from Wyoming, Ill named Shelby Ann Carter had experienced this tough moment in her life.

It was in January 2017 when she gave birth to her baby and it was probably the happiest day in her life. She and her boyfriend were truly joyful to protect and take care of their lovely daughter.

Shelby was willing to sacrifice everything even her life for the safety of her little one. This is what she did when a tragedy took place at her mom’s house.

Just a few days after giving birth, a sudden fire spread through the house.

It was a large fire that produced thick flames and smoke. That made it difficult for Shelby to go out of the house. But the worried mom did not lose hope and courage to save her daughter’s life. Her priority was not herself but the safety of her 12-day-old baby.

She was also willing to do everything to elude her from that dangerous place.

As Shelby was left no chance of going out, she strapped her little girl into her car seat then, tossed her from the second-floor window. Sadly, Shelby was not able to go out and eventually passed away.

The firefighters responded and were able to control the fire. However, it was too late when they rescued Shelby in the bedroom.

It was a devastating moment for Shelby’s family.

They lost her and their house was badly damaged by flames. But there’s one thing that has probably given them hope. Shelby’s little one had survived that ordeal with a minor burn after she was saved by her mom.

“The good news is, the baby got home and is doing great,” Stark County Sheriff Steve Sloan told the Peoria Journal Star.

Shelby’s family was not the only people who got affected by the heartbreaking tragedy. Even the residents of Wyoming were saddened that there’s a little child who lost her mom at a very early age.

These people extended their helping hand by gathering to pay their condolences. Aside from that, a GoFundMe page had been set up and was able to raise over $40,000. This is for Shelby’s mom and her little daughter after they lost everything.

Though Shelby was just given a few days to take care of her baby, she literally sacrificed her life just to save her from that life-threatening moment. It’s like she had given her all the love that she could give for the very last time.

“It’s just incredible that she was able to pull her thoughts together to save her baby… I’d say it’s nothing short of a miracle the way it ended up”, Chief of the Wyoming-Speer Fire Protection District Ed Foglesonger told The Washington Post.
