While being a parent is one of the greatest gifts in the world, our little ones have ways of testing our patience. It’s interesting to imagine what’s going on in their little heads while they’re taking a tantrum or pulling out every single toy in the living room.
Two mothers from Chictopia, a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle company located in San Fransisco, put themselves in the minds of their two little ones for this hilarious Taylor Swift parody video.
Their video, which was uploaded in May of 2015, parodies Taylor’s song Blank Space. The original version is about a fun relationship with a stranger and whether it’s going to work out. If you’re unfamiliar with it, you can watch it here:
The two Chictopia mothers rewrote the Blank Space lyrics, with some verses written from the perspective of the mothers, and others from the perspective of the babies. The end result is an adorable production that every parent can surely relate to.
The video scenes alternate between the mothers and babies playing outside in a grassy field and going through their day-to-day lives in their homes.
The familiar Blank Space tune begins, and we hear the moms singing:
“Nice to see you, where you’ve been? I’ve been waiting for forever it seems. Smiles, laughter, and baby skin; saw you there and I thought, “Oh my God, look at that face! Please, just don’t misbehave. Love’s a game, let’s play.”
The perspective then changes to that of the adorable little babies, as we see the mothers trying to get them dressed and ready for the day. The high-pitched “baby” voices begin, singing:
“New onesie, bow and tie, Gerber baby like the magazines. Ain’t it funny when I cry, cause I know you’ll come get me!”
The song continues with the moms’ and babes’ alternating perspectives coupled with lyrics that ring almost a bit too true.
The mothers’ part of the chorus connects to Swift’s Blank Space lyrics, going:
“Cause you’re young and you’re reckless, you take things way too far. You’re screaming breathless, just take your toy car. Got a long list of temp nannies, they tell me you’re insane. Doc gave me a blank space, baby, and I wrote your name.”
The video, which was uploaded in May of 2015, was created in honor of Mother’s Day and Taylor Swift’s mother’s diagnosis of cancer.
Since being uploaded, Chictopia’s relatable parody has been viewed over 29k times!
