Parenting is no easy task. It’s a job where you’re never off duty and it can be completely exhausting. But, eventually, you get the hang of it.

Coming up with clever tricks or hacks can make things a lot easier.

And 23-year-old mom Abigail Rivera Garcia of Massachusetts came up with an ingenious way to calm her newborn and give herself a break.

Abigail has her hands full with her two babies one who is 16-months-old and the other who is 2-months-old.

Both of them were born as preemies.

Her 2-month-old Ananyah has colic and reflux. This makes the baby super cranky and always wanting to be held.

“It got to the point where I couldn’t put her down for more than 10 minutes without her crying,” she wrote in a piece for Love What Matters.

Thankfully she came across a hack on Pinterest that would offer her a little relief.

Abigail says it’s “the BEST THING” she’s done yet. It involves filling a glove with rice. She grabbed a glove out of the cabinet and packed it full with rice.

She then laid her baby down on her stomach and placed the rice filled glove on her back. To her surprise, the baby immediately stopped crying.

The pressure of the rice filled glove feels like a mother’s hand on the baby’s back.

“Of course, everyone has their own opinion on this hack. Some like it and some don’t but every mother knows their child. My daughter loves it and is doing just fine. I had to post it because I know how hard it is to not have a break and if I can help a mom out, I definitely will!” Abigail says.

Of course like in any posts Abigail has gotten some flack for her methods.

So she had to add a little disclaimer.

“Note: My baby never sleeps with all the blankets around her or near this window; she has a crib for that. This was just a quick picture and she was being monitored the whole time,” she explains.

Abigail’s post has really resonated with other parents. After she posted it on Facebook it was shared more than 76,000 times.

“My baby loved this when she was in NICU and so did the nurses,” said one mom on Facebook.
