It’s this time of the year again, when our kids are returning to school.

Both kids and us, as parents, need to be prepared for this return and following some tips to make it smoother never hurt anyone.

As the Novak Jocivic Foundation explains, following a few simple pieces of advice can keep all of us organized, create healthy routines, and will support our children in this new chapter of their lives.

First of all, parents should make sure to have a calendar where they can note down all the activities their children will be attending.

Also, starting the bedtime routine early also prepares the children for a longer and calmer sleep, while it probably means that they will wake up more easily and happy to start their day the next morning.

Of course, having a chat with your children about their back-to-school feelings is healthy, as well as discussing homework builds the base on which you are going to work in the future.

Now, you might be like, okay, we know all that. After all, most of us follow some kind of toddler expert or child therapist on Instagram. We know the drill, this is how it’s going to go from now on.

But, really, has anyone ever touched upon carpools? Do you have any idea how long it takes every morning to drop the kids off at school? Why does it have to be such a slow process?

Well, it won’t have to be from now on! You see, a mom of two recently posted her piece of advice when it comes to carpools, and her TikTok video went viral.

“We’ve been to three different schools and it’s the same thing no matter where you go,” Witherspoon, 32, told TODAY Parents, explaining why she had to post this video. “No matter what time you get there, it’s always slow. I get anxiety every morning. We’ve got to get to our jobs, we have places to be.”

So, how does it work?

According to Witherspoon, first, you need to make sure the kids are sitting on the passenger’s side. This makes it easy for them to open the doors when the time comes and run to school towards the right direction.

As for the parent getting out of the car and opening doors? Well, forget about it!

“Ya’ll have got to stop getting out of the car and opening the doors for them. Let them open their own damn door — it takes too much time,” she says in the video.

Have the kids hold the latch when approaching the school’s drop-off spot so that they’re ready to open the doors when they’re told to do so.

And make sure you don’t forget to have them have their backpacks on so that they don’t waste any extra time when the car stops.

Jason, 8, and Jeremiah, 6, are just perfect in the video and TikTok users simply loved the whole idea.

Even the school’s principal called Whitherspoon to thank her and ask if he could post the video on the school’s Facebook page.
