Every mother who has a toddler knows parenting is never easy.
Yes, they are cute mini versions of you. But let’s admit it, behind that cuteness is a tornado ready to wreak havoc any moment. We bet mothers out there are all too familiar with the ‘terrible twos’ – temper tantrums, throwing of stuff, and endless wailing.
Yes, it can be total chaos.
These are the moments when our kids cry, we want to cry, too. This scenario will eventually haunt you, no matter which parenting guidebook you follow.
This story perfectly embodies this page’s title – Parenting Isn’t Easy.
Former news anchor Kayla Sullivan put on some clothes and make-up and stood in front of the camera once more. But instead of a microphone, she holds something like a rattle in her hand. She revisited her old profession to report something important that mothers could relate to – her son’s tantrums.
She started with her opening spiel, delivering what seemed like a live report.
Like every journalist, Kayla reported the 5W’s and 1H. She said she was standing outside her son’s bedroom, where he was “detained until nap time is over.” She said the detention was deemed necessary after her son threw a tantrum in the restaurant.
Kayla proceeded with more details in her “live report.”
Apparently, her son “held her hostage” in one of their visits to the Olive Garden. She said “authorities” that she took the proper precautions by bringing his favorite snacks and an iPad full of Coco Melon videos. All these did not stop his son’s cries demanding for “chechup.”
A waitress who seemed to understand the baby talk gave his son some ketchup.
Unfortunately, her son threw a fork topped with ketchup at the poor waitress. She called the waitress a “good Samaritan” and a “hero” for what she did, even if it didn’t appease her son. She also took a jab at the new parenting trend called “Gentle Parenting,” which she admitted she sucked at.
Her TikTok video has 5.5 million likes and counting because it was very relatable.
Kayla later explained that she missed TV reporting and thought it would be an excellent way to bring comic relief to a topic that many people could relate to. She also found her comments section filled with support and approval from other parents experiencing the same thing.
Of course, like other news reports, people were asking for some follow-up on the story.
Kayla created another skit, “interviewing eyewitnesses” who commented on her parenting style. She said that while people might disagree on how parents discipline their children in public, it shouldn’t stop them from going out.
Contrary to her news report, Kayla said her son is usually well-behaved.

But just like any other toddler who is full of energy, she also cannot always contain and control how her son behaves. She noted that what other parents could do when the same situation happens to them is to respect the people around and remove their child during the tantrum.
