A lot of working parents are told to work from home as a way to contain COVID-19 and minimize the transmission of the disease as much as possible. This change in routine has caused problems for a lot of them. The stress of keeping their families safe and managing the kids cause most of them to reach their breaking points.
If you are one of those parents, know that you aren’t alone. There are tons of parents who struggle with the same problems you are experiencing.
Some of them have documented the challenges they face on a daily basis and the results are quite hilarious. Go ahead and see for yourself!
1. Playing dress up
Her children convinced her to wear her wedding dress at lunch. She found no reason not to. I’d happily do the same thing- if only I can still fit into it.
2. The new teacher
This photo just proves that kids can pay attention to their class if they like the teacher. See that boy? He’s even raising his hand!
3. Working with a superhero
This mom was working from home. Out of the blue, her kid popped up from behind her wearing a Spider-Man costume. He was whispering “Can you hear me breathe?” If I were her, I’d probably have a hard time focusing.
4. Homeschooling
Trying out something for the first time can be stressful, particularly if you aren’t prepared for it. Just take this parent as an example. Based on her kid’s narration, she’s clearly struggling with homeschool.
5. A different kind of Monopoly
I’d say this one’s a genius. This parent is teaching her kids about discipline and working hard in a unique way. This will probably keep her children busy during the quarantine.
6. A call for help
This parent is clearly having a hard time. Unfortunately, it’s too late for her. Nobody can help her since everyone else is on quarantine.
7. Bored
This is a win-win situation for the dad. Apart from letting his kids engage in mental exercise, he also got some peace and quiet at home. I wonder how long it took for the kids to strip those gadgets and rebuild them.
8. Accurate
Being on isolation is hard. Being isolated with kids can be twice as challenging. To increase your tolerance, you might want to take a look at this graph. You might learn something from it.
9. Up to something
This was taken on day 10 of the quarantine. It looks like this kid is nearly done with whatever she’s up to. She’s got the sign and all the participants in place.
10. Someone’s not happy
In this house, the parents aren’t the only ones struggling. The cat looks like it’s having a hard time, too. It’s literally trying hard to survive.
11. The haircut
Being on quarantine means not being allowed to leave home, even if it’s just to see the barber. It was a good thing that this kid has a good sense of humor. If it was me, I would have cried a river after seeing my hair like that.
12. Spying
It must have been surprising for this kid to find out that his mom wasn’t really at work and that she’s actually working from home. I guess it won’t be long before the locks on those doors are breached. The kid looks so focused on getting to his parent.
13. Shadows
This isn’t a scene from a horror movie. It’s the new office view from this person’s house. It’s distracting and creepy at the same time.
14. Working from home
This parent probably went a bit too far in making sure her kids don’t bother her at work. Well, I guess this is better than leaving them in one room to fight and argue with each other. At least, she’s still able to “look after” the girls.
15. Day 2
It’s just day 2 and the TV is already broken. I wonder how the entire house can stay safe and whole in the days and weeks to come.
16. The couch
It looks like the couch is getting a makeover. It’s time to forget about the brown leather and welcome the green paint. The kids are also painting the pillow to get that nice put-together look.
17. A team at work
As they say, two heads are better than one. I guess these two will finish work faster than usual. Let’s just hope the father doesn’t end up with pain in his neck and shoulders after their work is done.
18. Painting the new floor
This kid surely had a lot of fun painting the new floor. Unfortunately, the same thing can’t be said for her mom who had to scrub the floor for hours. I wonder how long the kid was left unsupervised.
19. The fort
Kids can still have fun even if schools and sports are cancelled. The trick? Create a fort in your living room, just like what this parent did. It’ll surely keep the kids busy for some time.
20. Expensive toy
This parent bought the kids $100 worth of Lego toys. However, instead of the expensive toy, the kids found the cardboard box and tin can more entertaining. They’ve spent several hours playing with them than the Lego toys. I guess not all children are into expensive toys.
21. Beating homeschool boredom
These kids decided that roller skating is more fun that homeschooling. Well, no one can blame them for their choices. I’d probably skip my lessons for roller skates these days.
22. DnD campaign
Some games are just complicated for kids. As a parent, you need to be creative and think out of the box. This parent’s modified DnD campaign, for example, is doing well in keeping the kids busy.
23. A good way to repel kids
Tired of your children always barging into your office? This parent has a clever solution. Just get a piece of your underwear and hang it on the door knob. Your kids will probably run away as fast as they can after seeing it.
24. What working out with kids look like
This man is nailing parenting during quarantine. He’s not just entertaining his kids but he’s also able to work his muscles. I’m just not sure if the headband was necessary.
25. Taking a break
This is how this kid spends his from his homeschool activities. He’s standing there like he’s already weighing all the life choices he made the last couple of years.
26. Giving the toilet paper rolls a bath
While a lot of people are struggling to get some toilet paper rolls, this kid decided that they aren’t that important. She threw every roll in the tub, along with her toys.
27. The horror
This kid doesn’t like having a dirty home. On the second day of the quarantine, she decided to clean the sofa with toothpaste. I guess she just wants to keep things fresh in the living room.
28. The manager
The manager is showing the new employee how things are done in his office. He’s so committed with his work that he’s literally on top of everything. It’s a good thing that the new hire doesn’t mind being micromanaged.
29. Mud
I think it’s good that this parent is letting her kid explore . During quarantine, your kids’ devices and gadgets aren’t the only things they can be busy with.
30. Heartbreaking
This parent probably struggled in buying those toilet paper rolls. It’s heartbreaking to see them all get soaked in the bath like that. Next time, he better keep them in a higher spot at home or he can just lock them away.
