Austin and Brittany Jenkins were a lovely couple. Two young people who met and fell in love with each other, and soon decided to start their family together.
In their early 20s, they became parents for the first time, when they had their daughter Chloe, who is five years old today.
Only a little more than a year later, they had their second daughter, Delilah, who is now about three years old.
Brittany was enjoying her life as a married woman and mom, and she just couldn’t get enough of her husband and daughters.
At the same time, Austin, a loving husband and father, never stopped pursuing his dreams.
A man who had always had it in him to help others, was studying to become a family physician at the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine in Meridian, Idaho.
In October 2020, the couple found out that they were expecting another baby.
They couldn’t be happier, and they were excited to be welcoming a new family member in a few months from then.
Sadly, their dreams all turned into a nightmare when, two days after they found out Brittany was pregnant, they got involved in a tragic car accident.
In the car were Austin and his wife, as well as Brittany’s 13-year-old sister, Mariah.
The crash took Austin’s and Mariah’s lives, and left Brittany badly injured. Thankfully, the baby was not hurt during the accident.
Brittany, shuttered by the incident and the loss of her beloved husband and sister, had to take her two older kids and move in with her parents in East Idaho.
And that’s how Secret Santa found out about her and decided to surprise her specifically one day before two months were marked after losing Austin and Mariah.
Nate with East Idaho News and his team are Secret Santa’s helpers and they have been surprising deserving people in East Idaho for several years now.
This is how the anonymous person who is hiding behind the whole Secret Santa thing has decided to spend $1 million every year.
So, in early December 2020, the East Idaho News team knocked on Brittany’s parents’ door.
The couple explained that their daughter was putting her eldest daughter to sleep, so they had to wait a little.
Once the young woman appeared at the door, the team expressed their condolences and asked her how she was coping with the losses.
Right after that, they revealed a great surprise.
Secret Santa was giving her the opportunity to choose a headstone for her husband’s grave and the expenses were covered by them.
Then, most importantly, she was getting a brand new car for her growing family, which was actually parked around the corner.
Brittany was shocked and she couldn’t utter anything but “thank you”.
She was overwhelmed and she couldn’t hold back her tears as she realized she could take her kids around and run errands in a new car.
What a relief for this family struggling both financially and emotionally.
