School Leaves Nasty Rant About Son On Mom's Voicemail
How could anyone say that about a child?

Your children are your greatest creations. Within them, your heart beats in a different body. When you entrust someone with the care of your child, you’re giving them the biggest responsibility in the world. If you ever found out they weren’t treating them as nicely as they should be, it would be heartbreaking and infuriating— and that’s exactly what this mother discovered when her child’s school inadvertently left a foul-mouthed rant while calling to inquire about his absence.

Leighanne Bromley, 29, is a retail worker from Coventry, UK, with a darling, 10-year-old son named Harley.

The young boy has been diagnosed with autism and is currently attending RNIB Three Spires Academy, a facility where over 50% of the students fall somewhere on the autism spectrum.

Last Tuesday (July 10), Harley had been suffering from a cold when Leighanne decided to keep him home to recover.

As per most school protocols, a staff member from the academy phoned the young mother to inquire about the boy’s absence.

“I looked at my phone,” she told Mirror UK.

“I saw I had a missed call from the school and they’d left the voicemail.”

But when Leighanne listened to the message, she was stunned by what she heard.

At first, the voicemail goes how you would expect: “Hi Leighanne, it’s [name] from school. I was just ringing to see how Harley is. Alright, we’ll speak to you later, bye.” It seems, however, that the staff member didn’t actually hang up the phone, leaving the following conversation with a co-worker for the boy’s mother to hear:

“And make sure he’s off all [expletive] week,” the woman mutters.

“What about two weeks?”

“Well, don’t tell her that,” a male voice sarcastically responds. “Oh yeah [name], [name] did phone you. She just wanted to make sure that Harley is off all week. And the second question is could you keep him off next week, as well?”

“Yes, please. Till the end of the year,” the woman responds.

“Don’t bring him back until the 27th of July when we are closed,” the male adds before both parties burst out laughing.

Leighanne was horrified by the academy’s voicemail.

“My initial reaction was just shock,” she said. “My jaw hit the floor. I was stunned. I couldn’t make it out at first, so I had to listen to it over and over again. I was just in disbelief.” In an interview with Daily Mail UK, she added:

“I was gobsmacked and horrified someone who is entrusted with my son’s care had that attitude towards him.”

Leighanne says Harley did well for his first 3.5 years at the academy but has been having problems this grade year. Still, the mother says, she had been working with the school to find ways to improve the issues.

Never in a hundred years could she have imagined that a school employee would say something like this.

“I asked if they could move him temporarily into another class so he is away from the people involved, but they poo pooed the idea,” she explained.

“I’m left in an impossible situation where I don’t want to send him in but I could get in trouble if I don’t.”

“I’m still sending him but I’m not happy and nervous about how he’s being treated but I feel I don’t have a choice.

The academy has issued an apology to Leighanne, stating: “This type of behavior is unacceptable and it goes completely against the values of our school. We are taking this matter seriously and a full internal investigation is taking place.”

In a Facebook post, Leighanne also added: “The two staff members involved are now suspended.”

People are disgusted by the staff members’ behavior.

“Disgraceful behaviour, those involved should be removed from the school and from the profession altogether!”

“Absolutely disgraceful and disgusting from Rnib aspire academy…. Sack the head as well for gross neglect of duty.”
