“Being a single mum is twice the work, twice the stress and twice the tears but also twice the hugs, twice the love and twice the pride.” – Anonymous
It’s not easy being a single mom.
You have to be twice as strong, twice a parent, twice as hard-working. It’s true, sometimes, you just want to break down and cry, but guess what?

You don’t have time for that.
Yvette Vasquez, a proud single mother, didn’t want her son to feel left out at the school’s “Donuts with Dad” event.
She knew her child would understand, but everything that they did was out of fun and love.

Vasquez was on her usual route. The mother of three beautiful boys pulled up to Sue Crouch Intermediate School. She was there to drop her son Elijah to school.
That’s when she noticed that the school parking lot had so many people!
Out of curiosity, she asked Elijah, “What was going on?”
“You’re not supposed to be here. It’s Donuts With Dad day,” the six-grader explained to his mother.
It was just normal to feel bad. After all, there were so many people excited about the event.
Then Vasquez had a brilliant idea!
She asked Elijah if he wanted her to be her dad on this special occasion. Elijah’s eyes widened and he grabbed the chance!
“We’ve got 10 minutes before the bell rings,” Elijah quickly said.
Of course, Vasquez wasn’t going to back down on this challenge. The duo raced home, and the little boy quickly started looking for clothes that his mother could use.
He was even yelling, “Put this on!”
It was like a race, a game for this duo to participate. It was so much fun! At last, they were able to get the clothes they needed.
Vasquez thought of getting one of her son’s mustache collections. The little boy had purchased them before at their local Dollar store.
Who knew that her son’s collections would come in handy?
“I think I looked like one of the Mario brothers,” she said to Inside Edition.
They were just in time. When the duo walked inside the school, Vasquez admitted she felt shy.
“I’d never done anything like that before.”
People looked at her, and they knew who she was. Despite her schedule, she was very active in her son’s school.
Some of the fathers inside applauded the single mom’s effort.
“All I was doing was being a parent for my son,” said Vasquez in her interview.
Aside from Elijah, she also has two sons. One is nine years old, and the other is six years old.
Sadly, she admitted that her kid’s father decided not to be in the picture. Still, this strong woman didn’t want her sons to miss out on these types of events.
So she didn’t even care that she was wearing a costume.
Vasquez posted her story that happened last 2016 on Facebook, and it went viral.
This mom’s selfless act of love and her effort has been appreciated by many. Of course, her sons also know how much she has done to make sure they have the best life – even if she has to do it alone.
