School is fun and it is definitely a place where you can grow as a person, you can learn interesting stuff, and make friends.
At the same time, it is the place where children and teenagers develop their personality and, most importantly, the place where they first show who they are and what difference they want to make in the world.
A few days ago, a 13-year-old boy from Ohio did something that definitely tells a lot more about his personality than his test scores.
Mateo had an idea a couple of weeks ago. Since he saw that they had many PopTarts available at home, he thought why not take some to school and share with his classmates.
And if his idea sounds so far like something many kids would do, well Mateo took it a step further.
He took the toaster from home, put it in his school bag, and took it to school in order to offer toasted PopTarts to his friends.
Well, since we already have interviews lining up (what!!??) , we decided to go ahead a share a pic. Here’s my boy with the sad little toaster and an empty box of @PopTartsUS ! pic.twitter.com/naJSGhGyjy

His mom, Elisa, shared what her son did on Twitter and her post went viral in no time.
“Apparently my kid got in trouble today for PACKING OUR TOASTER IN HIS BACKPACK and pulling it out at lunch to make pop tarts for his class. I can’t stop laughing,” she wrote.
Later on, she explained that her son’s backpack is huge and the toaster really small so that’s why nobody realized what he was carrying in there before he actually put it to use at school.
People have asked how no one noticed. This is the sad little toaster and this is his huge middle school backpack. 🤷♀️ pic.twitter.com/EOttCQmInL

And, for those who are wondering just what he did exactly, Elisa shared in a tweet:
“He took his backpack to the lunchroom, found a spot by an outlet, pulled out the toaster, set it on the seat next to him and proceeded to toast pop tarts and pass them around. We only had enough at home for his table. He didn’t charge.”
Although his mom at first thought her son had been in trouble, she later on found out that Mateo’s teacher had just asked him not to make “a habit” out of it, and he also laughed.
But it seems that the boy has always been a person who cares about others and he wants to make people happy.
As Elisa explained, when he was only eight years old, he was diagnosed with cancer. He had a rare small tissue cancer and he spent a lot of time in hospital fighting for his life.
At that time, he got obsessed with Legos, and he used to play with them all the time.
At some point, he was offered $100 as a gift, when he started cancer treatment.
Instead of spending the money to buy presents for himself, Mateo wanted to buy gifts for other kids in the hospital.
“5 years later, he’s just as sweet and no signs of cancer,” his mother shared on Twitter.
Mateo has since been shown on TV since shows wanted to have a chat with him about why he decided to take the toaster to school.
As the boy says, he hopes to be a celebrity at school from now on.
