Little Zoe is only four years old, but she is already a warrior. She has been battling an incurable type of brain cancer for a while, and her strength and bravery are an inspiration for everyone.
The New South Wales toddler has DIPG or Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, which is a type of child cancer that cannot be treated at the moment.
Brain cancer is indeed the deadliest type of cancer when it comes to children, but DIPG is one of those types of cancer that have the lowest survival rates.
You see, in most cases, children with DIPG survive for 8 months to a year. Only 10% make it to two years after diagnosis, and 1% for five years.
Zoe is one of those kids who have to go through this hard time, and it hasn’t been easy on her. Still, she stays strong and keeps on having dreams for the future. One of them actually came true on her birthday a few days ago.
The 4-year-old wants to be a police officer, so the NSW Police Department surprised her with a special gift on her birthday, August 18.
“Four-year-old Zoe became instant best friends with NSW Police Force Penguin, Constable Charlie,” the NSW Police Force wrote in Facebook post. “Constable Charlie and police friends attended Bear Cottage at Manly to give Zoe a birthday present, however, a sly bandit pounced and snatched the present from their grasp!”
A man in a gray hoodie stole Zoe’s present, and that’s when things got a twist.
Zoe was keen on helping the officers locate the thief, so, after putting on her uniform, Constable Zoe followed the cops while they were chasing the stranger in land, air, and water.
While the chase started on the road, it continued in the sea, since the thief jumped into his speedboat and took to the waters off Manly.
Then, Zoe and her fellow officers searched the man in a helicopter, and then they finished the chase on the road again. They finally tracked down the thief, who was hiding in a carpark near North Port, and arrested him.
Zoe was able to get her present back, and she was excited to have helped the local police chase a “bad guy”.
The NSW Police Force posted a video of Zoe’s adventure and it has since gone viral with more than 127k views.
“I’m crying. This is so beautiful. What an incredible sweet little girl. Thank u NSW police,” someone wrote.
Indeed, what these police officers did for little Zoe is amazing, and they helped both her and her family create unique memories they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
You see, police work is not only about “finding and arresting the bad guys”, but also about caring about the community members and helping them have a better life.
Zoe definitely felt like the luckiest and happiest girl in the world when she became an officer and chased her first “criminal”.
