Instead of sticking to a traditional gender reveal, these family members decided to honor lost members of the family.

Anyone who has gone through a tough pregnancy or, even worse, a miscarriage knows how strong of an emotional impact that can have on everyone involved.

When Angela Fleming and her husband were finally ready to find out the sex of their unborn child, Tiniki Thomas and other friends and family honored the family members that had never reached birth.

They captured the entire event on camera, bringing tears to the eyes of those around the world.

As Thomas explained in a comment on the video:

“This family at the time had dealt with 3 miscarriages late in pregnancy, 2 with the couple and 1 with the sister. It took a lot to get them where they were that day. So emotions were at an all-time high. They expected the box but we decided to put a twist to it with the balloon mommy reveal while letting them know the other babies have not been forgotten.”

The video begins just like any other gender reveal party. The happy couple are sitting behind a box that reads “Boy or Girl?” with two giant bows on top, one blue and one pink. You can admire the effort the party planners put into the event with the gorgeous balloon arch in the background that hangs over a sign reading “Baby Fleming.”

It takes a while for everyone to gather so they can watch the gender reveal, and the husband even has to answer a quick phone call. When everyone is together, people vote if they are on “team girl” or “team boy” with a round of applause and cheers.

During the countdown, the couple has a fake “argument” over who will open the box, each pulling it towards them before putting it back in the center. At 1:19 they open up the box, but they don’t see what they expect.

Instead of a single pink or blue balloon, three white ones pop out.

At 1:22, Angela and her husband look very confused, and for good reason. Then, they read the note attached to the balloons’ ribbon and get emotional, both ending up in tears.

It takes a half a minute for the couple to dry their eyes enough to read the note out loud and for the crowd to calm down enough to listen:

“These three balloons represent Jaden, Joel, and nephew David, which we all know are running around in heaven. Even though they seem so far apart, they will always have a special place in our hearts.”

The note ended with congratulations for the couple and their baby.

The party wasn’t over yet. They still had the actual gender reveal to do.

It quickly became clear that the impressive balloon sculpture of a pregnant woman wasn’t just decorative. The real gender reveal was inside her stomach. We get a good glimpse at this piece of art at 2:42.

Following another countdown, multiple small pink balloons or balls pop out of the pregnant balloon woman’s stomach at 3:27, accompanied by a great deal of celebration.

Such a creative twist on the traditional gender reveal party was appreciated by more than just the people present. Many comments on the YouTube video are from women who have experienced miscarriages or stillbirths and were touched by the idea. Joanna Perez commented:

“The most beautiful gender reveal I’ve ever seen. Made me cry as well. I’ve myself lost a baby at 23 weeks and passed away and had 2 miscarriages. It’s been so hard for me just love the way this gender reveal was made. God bless that little princess on the way.”

This was the perfect way to honor the new life growing without forgetting those that didn’t survive.
