For most adults, there’s nothing better than sleeping on their warm and comfortable bed. It promotes better sleep and helps reduce back pain.
For 23-month-old Finn Knudston, the best place to sleep isn’t his bed.
That’s what his mom Paige discovered one night after setting up a camera in their home in Virginia. Apparently, the toddler prefers somewhere more comfortable.
In the video, Finn can be seen leaving his little bed.
It seemed that he waited for all the lights to go out before making his escape. He climbed down from his bed and made his way to his best friend Brutus.
It’s a thing between the pair.
Apparently, Finn’s secret trip isn’t new. It’s something that happens frequently at night.
Paige recalled:
“Finn just started sleeping in his ‘big boy bed’ a little over a month ago which is when Brutus began crawling up and sleeping in bed every night; it was as if he laid next to him to prevent him from rolling out of bed. Finn then began climbing out of his bed and sleeping on his floor, so naturally Brutus began sleeping next to him there as well.”
For her, Brutus tends to sleep next to Finn because he felt that the little boy needed protection.
During the 20th week of her pregnancy, Paige had an anatomy scan. There, she found out that Finn had a cyanotic heart defect known as transposition of the great arteries.
As a baby, Finn had to undergo multiple surgeries and procedures after his birth. They were done to ensure that he stayed alive until he’s old and healthy enough to get open-heart surgery.
When Finn was finally brought home, he was introduced to the family dog.
Right then and there, Finn and Brutus clicked. It’s like they were meant to be best friends.
“Once we got home it was as if Brutus just knew Finn needed some extra close monitoring, and he has been by his side ever since,” -Paige recalled.
Most parents would feel uncomfortable with their babies secretly climbing down the bed to sleep next to the dog.
But not Paige. She knew she had nothing to worry about. Brutus is a well-behaved dog that chooses to be with Finn all the time.
“I was not concerned Brutus would get annoyed because he has tolerated and behaved so incredibly well in other situations, so Finn rolling and climbing around him was something I knew he would not be fazed by.”
Brutus insists on being next to his little human.
The dog follows Finn from room to room. If the toddler is sick, you can expect to see Brutus next to him. He would even lay his head on the boy’s chest.
The pair’s adorable video has over 500,000 views.
Most of the people who have watched it can’t get over how adorable they were.
