What do you get when you cross a young child with a newborn?
The cutest thing imaginable.
This big brother’s reaction upon meeting his newborn sister is absolutely priceless.
Mama presents her newborn, wrapped in cloth and sporting a pink beanie. Her brother’s giddy with excitement – like Christmas come early, but better.
He receives her with open arms, literally and figuratively.
Big Brother takes a few moments to inspect his newest family member. He examines her intently. What exactly is he holding?
You can tell he knows he’s dealing with something special, but he’s not quite sure about the details.
Is she like a small person? Or maybe some kind of alien?
Big Baby Brother looks at his sis with loving eyes, a wide grin lines his face.
He proceeds to give her a little kiss on the forehead then takes a few more moments to inspect.
Awww, he already loves her.
His parents must be ecstatic. Their children appear to be getting along swimmingly from the get-go.
Mom asks, “Should we bring her home tomorrow?”
Brother lets out a confident, “Yeah.”
He’s nothing but smiles.
This looks like the start of a beautiful friendship.
Mom: “Do you think you’ll be nice to her or mean to her?”
Son: “Nice.”
That’s the spirit. He’s passing the “good big brother litmus test” with flying colors. He’s incredibly gentle and accepting of his new companion. Maybe some kids would be jealous of the attention, but not him.
Brother looks at Sister, letting out a laugh, “You’re wiggling around.”
Mom softly replies, “She is wiggling around. That means she likes you.”
It’s true. She might even love him. Or at least she will.
Little sis has a big personality for a baby. Brother lets out a laugh and turns to Mom, “She’s sticking her tongue out!”
He’s absolutely amused by his new friend.
Big Brother pats her gently on the belly, still somewhat puzzled by what he’s holding. Although he acknowledges that she’s his new sister, he’s not completely convinced she’s human.
He notices some key differences…
“Her belly right here.”
Indeed Brother, indeed.
He seems to already have a soft grasp on human anatomy…
“Her legs are right here.”
Yep, those are her legs. They’re probably teeny-tiny.
“And her feet are right here…”
Why yes, yes they are. Probably much smaller than yours I imagine.
Something’s not right. Brother looks up, puzzled. He proceeds to drop a doozy.
“Um, where’s her weeny?”
Mom lets out an airy chuckle. Whoever’s filming – presumably Dad – begins laughing, too.
“She doesn’t have one because she’s not a boy.”
Brother glances around the room, still befuddled. Perhaps it’s not a completely ridiculous question in context…
He’s so adorably innocent. He has so, so much to learn, which must be incredibly exciting for his parents.
Brother’s still a child too, learning each and every day. But one thing’s almost certain – he’ll be an excellent companion for his newborn sister.
Brother already adores little sis. They hit things off immediately.
I hope Mom shows them this footage when they’re older – it’s incredibly touching. This is where it all started for them.
Obviously Brother still has a lot to learn, especially about human anatomy. But most importantly, he’s already learned to love.
He’ll be there for his new sister for life. They’re off to a superb start.
