Pluviophile. It’s what we call someone who loves rain. A person who finds peace and joy on rainy days. If you are one, then you enjoy that scent that rises up from the ground. The pitter-patter of rain drops on the roof and on cars, the grey darkness and most importantly, you don’t mind being soaked in it at all.
You should be friends with little Harper here.
At such a young age, she already loves the rain. So much so in fact that she couldn’t get enough of it. This looks to be her first summer rain and who better to share it with than dad?
“Well Harper, you wanna go out in the rain? You wanna go out in the rain?”
Just look at her face!
She can’t help but stare at the rain and as her dad slowly carries her out, little Harper slowly breaks into a lovely smile. Dad breaks in to a quick run in the rain followed by a few circles and as they come back in to the garage, Harper’s smile and giggle says it all.
Now toddlers are very curious by nature. And instead of controlling them and restricting their experiences, why not join them and educate them about it? Let them play around and get dirty, or like this cool dad, run around with them in the rain?
That tiny brain is paired with a big heart so better be sure to give them a ton of fun experiences to make sure they develop well. These tiny humans need a healthy dose of curiosity and love. Like a house being built, they need a good foundation before the whole thing is put up and finished.
And yes, the summer rain. There’s just something about the falling of rain in the heat of the season. There’s a lovely smell coming from a dry, scorched land that evokes a bit of drama from the human soul. Memories come alive, feelings long forgotten resurface for some, and it really is an enjoyable moment with your favorite drink.
Petrichor, is what they call it.
Milk for little Harper, definitely. She turns around towards the rain and reaches out with her tiny arms, letting out a very toddler-like sound.
“More? You want more rain? Okay, one more time, here we go.”
Her excitement is priceless. Harper’s eyes light up at the prospect of running out with dad once more, and they do! She lets out a little squeal of joy the moment they run back inside but then something even better happens.
Dad sets her down so she can run around barefoot in the rain!
It is such a touching sight to see father and daughter hand in hand having a quick walk around out there. Such a cool dad! This is one moment Harper will relive when she’s older thanks to modern technology and social media.
With over 6.1 million views, viewers touched upon the moment too.
“I don’t know if this toddler’s reaction was to the rain or to the amazing father who was holding her. If more father’s were like you, this would be a much, much better world.”
We think both.
“I love that the father made this experience a beautiful one, the girl will love the rain for the rest of her life!”
It was quite an experience for both, we’re sure. Such a simple yet sweet moment and it didn’t cost them a single cent. Remember to live for moments like these. You’ll find that, at the end of the day, it’s these that make you smile.
