Parents aren’t just parents. Sometimes that also have to play the role of detective trying to find clues that will explain how their children have found themselves in compromising situations.

One Michigan mom found herself having to solve the case of how her children became covered in butter.

The last time Jodi Hargraves saw her children, Mason, 2, and Jaxson, 3, they were watching a movie in their bedroom.

She went to go collect the dirty laundry from another room when her husband called to her saying that he had a phone interview. When she met her husband in their lounge she found her boys covered in butter.

“I honestly didn’t know how to react,” Hargraves told Caters Clips.

She began her inquiry by questioning her diaper-clad tot.

Not only were his hands and arms covered in butter, but he also had some on his face. His hair, however, was saturated in it.

“What is that,” she asked.

He explained that it was butter.

“And since when does butter go in your hair?” she questioned.

“Yeah,” Jaxson said.

“Jaxson put butter in his hair,” chimes in Mason says.

His mother then points out that his hands are also dirty and asks if he’s the one that put the butter into Jaxson’s hair.

“Noo!” Mason says defending himself.

“Where did you put the butter?” she asks.

He told her the fridge, but she explained to him that that’s where he got it from and not where he put it. She explains that’s it’s all over his hands too and that she had to throw the tub of butter away.

Then it was time for the big question.

“Why is there butter in your hair?” she asks Jaxson.

He then proceeds to explain to his mother that he wanted to make pancakes. She then has to gently explain to him that pancakes are not made from butter. Then her questioning continues.

“So where did the butter go?” she asks.

She then learned that not only was the butter now in their bedroom but it was on their bed. She never ended up finding out why Mason “washed his hair” with butter.

One thing she did know that it was time for a bath… big time.

This poor mom! She didn’t even know where to start! You can watch this adorable video below.
