Although their son was born three weeks earlier, he is a fighter and he was soon ready to go home and meet his siblings, 5-year-old Jackson Kyle, and 2-year-old Lilah Ray.

And, while living around and taking care of a newborn is never easy, the parents have been posting sweet family photos on Instagram, also commenting on how hard nights have been, but also talking about the love their older children show to their newborn brother.

What they had not discussed openly until a few days ago was whether newborn Josiah was born with achondroplasia, a genetic condition that both his father, 32, and older siblings were born with.

Just a few days ago, however, the time came for the couple to confirm that their third baby was born with the most common form of dwarfism, too.

Achondroplasia has been found to affect about 1 in 27,500 people. It has been related to obesity, hydrocephalus, obstructive sleep apnea, middle ear infections, and spinal stenosis, and there are treatments available for these conditions, although efforts are always made in order to prevent them.

The Roloff couple announced their third baby’s condition, but they also wanted to make sure that it won’t be something that characterizes him.

“He’s Josiah. He has achondroplasia, but he’s not, like, Josiah the achondroplasia,” Zach, 32, told Us Weekly.

Tori went on to explain why they don’t want to make it a big deal.

“We try not to make it a big deal, just because we never want our kids to feel like it is a big deal,” the young mother of three said.

The mother also talked about how lucky they are because of all the resources they have. After all, the children’s father having dwarfism himself has allowed him to know everything he needs in order to bring up the children normally and also help them understand that their genetic condition won’t hold them back in any way.

“We have so many resources and there’s a lot of parents out there who don’t have the same resources and don’t have the same confidence in everything that Zach and I do,” Tori added.

When the family’s second child, Lilah, was born in 2020, Tori revealed that she had dwarfism when the baby was two months old.

As for the couple’s oldest son, Jackson, Tori said that she found out when she was 34 weeks pregnant.

Today, they are a happy family of five and they spend amazing days together, as the oldest children are very happy to have the newborn around and -in a way- take care of him.

As for whether they’re planning on adding a new member to their family, Tori said that she never says never, but this time she’s most probably saying it.

The mother also revealed that before Josiah she had a miscarriage, and that this experience somehow stole some of her joy during her last pregnancy.
