Being a mom isn’t easy, and being a single mom is even harder.
There are a lot of movies that portray moms as being perfect and show the positive sides of being a parent. Few movies show the truth about parenting and how difficult it really is. The move “Tully” may change that.
It’s a comedy about a mom who has two children and is pregnant with a third.
When she needs some help, her brother gifts her a night nanny named Tully. At first, the mom isn’t happy about the idea, but she soon starts to bond with the young nanny and learns to appreciate her.
The best part about the movie is that it shows what motherhood is really like. The mom drops her phone on her newborn baby’s head, spills all her breastmilk, listens to her kids make fun of her body, and even struggles to make her colicky baby happy.
Every mom can relate to these things, right?
The best thing about movies like this is that they help moms who feel like they are doing a horrible job realize they aren’t doing so bad after all. When they see that these things are normal, they realize that maybe some of the silly things that go wrong in their own lives aren’t as serious as they think.
Of course, there are plenty of other ways to talk about motherhood and all the ups and downs of it. There are social media groups that are dedicated to offering support to parents. You can also find chat rooms and forums online that allow you to ask questions about parenting and find out what other parents deal with.
Babies don’t come with a manual, so it’s hard to know what to do sometimes.
Once you have one baby, you think you know what to expect with the next one, but it turns out to be completely different from the first. The fact is, all babies and parents are different. As long as a baby is being cared for and provided with the necessities, you can’t go wrong.
“Tully” is a movie that attempts to show moms that they are doing better than they think and that at the end of the day, their children appreciate everything they do. It the perfect movie to see with your mom friends. If you decide to go out and have a few drinks afterward, go ahead. You’ve earned it.
We can’t all be lucky enough to get a night nanny, but at least we can have mom friends to give us breaks and remind us that we are human now and then.
“Tully” might not make you feel like a perfect mom, but it will make you feel a little better about feeding your family frozen pizza on a regular basis. Most moms will find “Tully” hilarious and extremely relatable.
“Tully” features the film stars Charlize Theron, Mackenzie Davis, Mark Duplass, and Ron Livingston.
The movie’s trailer has been shared on social media, where everyone seems to be excited to watch it. The comments include:
“While getting a nanny/night nurse is not ‘real’ for most, what I love about the angle of this movie is that seems to focus on the fact that Mom needs to be taken care of as well—which is absolutely REAL. I luckily have the best Mom on the planet who stressed that to me and kept things in perspective when I felt completely overwhelmed—some of you can say you never needed help and that’s great for you, but you should be able to understand that if Mom is not doing well, no one is.”
Hopefully, all the tired mommas out there will find some time to make it to the movie.
