As parents, most days consist of innocent battles with our kids, no matter what age they are! Whether it’s trying to get a toddler to eat their vegetables or getting a teen to clean their room (the way you want it) – it’s just part of the job description.
But can you imagine what it’d be like if they did all those ‘non-fun’ activities without complaint? Like, you ask them once and bam, it’s done. Frankly, it sounds too good to be true!
One set of parents actually had this dream become a reality when their twin toddlers started putting themselves to bed. No really, they actually do it right when they’re told, without putting up a fight. It’s something you have to see to believe.
Most would probably agree that it’s not until you’re an adult that you start looking forward to (and appreciating) bedtime. For a kid that’s having too much fun, sometimes it’s the last thing they want to do.
A mom named Kristine made an amazing discovery about her one-and-a-half-year-old twins, Zac and Chris. They really enjoyed going to bed! All she had to do was say, “go to bed,” and they went to bed.
One night, Kristine hit the record button and filmed their routine so she could share it with family. But little did she know it’d end up going viral.
In the video, Zac and Chris are sitting in the hallway dressed in their pajamas and holding their sippy cups.
Mom simply tells them, “Go to bed. Go to bed, hurry!” Without putting up a fight, the toddlers take off like lighting towards their room.
They both toss their cups into their cribs and start climbing in. No, your eyes aren’t lying to you.
Kristine provided some background information in the video’s description. Turns out, it wasn’t even something they had to teach the boys!
She explained:
“I took this video for family who lives far away, so they could see how the kids were growing and becoming pretty athletic at a young age. We never taught them to do this. One day I told the Zac & Chris, identical twin brothers, to go to bed and they did it! They just ran to bed and hopped in! I was shocked, and now they do it on a regular basis. This is their favorite part of the day, when they get to parkour themselves into their beds together and see who makes it in first.”
The majority of kids like climbing anything they can, so it makes sense that the twins enjoyed scurrying up and catapulting themselves into their cribs. But would they want to stay there?
Each brother has their own blankie and sippy cup, and it seems like that’s all they need. Zac even tries to help zip his own tent up! After a minute of getting all settled, they eventually say “night-night.”
Mom Kristine decided to address a couple of things from the video, which viewers might have questions about.
She wrote on YouTube:
“The crib tents are to keep the babies safe if they wake up while we are sleeping, because they tend to silently climb out and try to play in places that could be dangerous for them, and they help to keep bugs out of the cribs, just in case. They are also fire retardant, just in case anyone was worried :). and yes…we brush their teeth after they fall asleep–a fabulous recommendation by our dentist!”
Parenting can be stressful, so it’s nice to have some things that are a breeze and you can check off the list. For Kristine and her husband – bedtime, done.
