Sometimes we’re surprised to learn that others are watching us closely. We get so caught up in our own lives that we sometimes forget that other people may be noticing us.
An important message
UPS driver, Dallen Harrell, paused his busy delivery schedule to give one family a very important message of encouragement. He had noticed the Roswell, Ga. family’s “It’s A Boy” sign on their front lawn and wanted to wish them well. Harrell had recently become a father himself and wanted to pass on a message of understanding to the family.
Dallen’s message goes viral
In the now-viral video message, Dallen is heard wishing the family the best with their new addition. “If this is the ‘it’s a boy house’ who had the, I forget the name of the bird, I hope all is going well with your newborn. I had a child around the same time you guys did and I just hope everything’s going good. God bless, happy holidays,” said UPS employee, Dallen Harrell of Marietta, Ga.
Leaving an impression
When they heard the message on their Ring Camera, new mom Jessica Kitchel and her husband couldn’t believe the sincere and thoughtful gesture coming from a complete stranger.
Kitchel was shocked
“I just played it back and saw his message was just completely blown away by it…I think I needed it the most in that moment. Just encouragement.” — she told CBS46 Kitchel posted the video on social media where it racked up over 60,000 views. People were inspired by this young man’s kindness and wanted to give back in some way.
The two new friends meet in person.
Kitchel was beyond excited when she was able to actually meet Harrell in person. They exchanged hugs and laughs over the story of kindness that started it all.
“I was so excited to talk to him and just thank him for what his message meant to me,” Kitchel told CBS46
Giving back to a kind person
After meeting, Kitchel asked Harrell if there was a baby registry set up for his newborn. It turned out that he and his fiancé had not had a baby shower. With this new development, Kitchel went to work posting his registry links online.
Everything on his registry was purchased… by complete strangers.
“Complete strangers. I wouldn’t know them from a can of paint. Just God’s vessels,” Harrell told CBS 46. Harrell was so touched by the kindness of strangers and he hopes to stay in contact with Kitchel and her family. “I don’t want it to be a one-time deal. Not a season, for sure, a lifetime,” he told CBS 46.
It doesn’t take much to lift someone else’s spirits.
“It’s so easy right now to focus on what isn’t going right and the fact that we all got to see somebody just take a second in their day and show an easy act of kindness, that really meant a lot.” – Kitchel told CBS 46
The easy thing would have been to ignore the homeowner’s good news but Dallen was compelled to congratulate the couple since he too had just become a father. Watch the touching message in the video below.
