Parenting is not easy, which is why both mom and dad should be involved. This partnership is a lifetime relationship whose goal is to build a family based on love and kindness.
With his wife by his side, family man Cassidy Shear can take on anything, including raising four adorable kids.
And when he and his wife McKenzie found out that they were having a fifth bundle of joy, the couple was overjoyed and excited to meet the newest member of the family. However, there were concerns about his wife’s health as she had a blood disorder.
At last, their youngest whom they named Ridge, was born. It was a moment of happiness, but the celebration did not last for long.
One day after giving birth to Ridge, McKenzie had a blood clot and she eventually passed away even before she could hold her son.
It was a bittersweet moment for the family because one life was born and added to them, but McKenzie did not survive the clot. Although Cassidy was still grieving the loss of his wife, he now had five children depending solely on him.
He suddenly became a widower and it would be quite challenging to raise all of his kids alone, but the father of five knew what he had to do. He immediately handled the claim for insurance benefits, went back to work, and provided for his family.
The responsibilities he had were tough along with the grief in his heart, but he had to overcome all of those at once because his children needed him.
Cassidy works full-time at a car dealership. While he was at work, his mom and McKenzie’s mom took turns looking after the children.
“He has not complained once about all of the responsibility that has been put on his shoulders,” McKenzie’s mother, Staci Christensen, told FOX 13.
“He has me. He has Dixie. He has all of Kenzie’s friends. Everybody’s just stepped up to the plate and willing to help Cassidy in any way that we can.”
Each day was a struggle, but Cassidy was determined not to give up.
One day, a customer visited the shop where he worked and looked for someone who could help because his truck was not functioning properly. This customer arrived during Cassidy’s shift.
The person who introduced himself as a customer was actually a member of the Fox 13 Dream Team and when he opened the trunk of the vehicle, Cassidy saw various baby stuff which was all for his newborn.
Cassidy could not believe his eyes.
All of those supplies were meant to help him in taking care of his newborn son. All sorts of baby supplies and even formula milk were available for little Ridge.
The widower was overcome by gratitude, but the surprise does not end there.
Krystellina Brown, one of the members of the dream team who was also pregnant, moved forward to present a red box for Cassidy. It was a gift the man will never forget.
The note said that the dream team would be paying the family’s mortgage for the rest of the year!
The father of five was filled with emotions and could not believe what he is seeing. It was truly a blessing for him and his kids. He was rendered almost speechless, and all he could say was “Thank you very much.”
