Domestic violence has sadly always been a problem and an issue that families usually haven’t been discussing or going public about.

During and after the pandemic, it seems that the issue has only gotten worse, with one in two women reporting that they or someone they know has experienced violence, according to surveys conducted in 13 countries.

These problematic situations are most often gender-specific, while kids are sometimes affected by them, too.

Just like in this story, what started as an argument between a couple ended with a father threatening to throw his child off of an interstate overpass in Philadelphia.

You see, a few months ago, while a couple was fighting, the man took out a gun and, threatening his wife, he took her and their baby girl in his car driving away.

The man later pulled over in the area of the Cottman Avenue exit of Interstate 95.

After stopping the car, he took the baby out of the car and started threatening his ex-partner that he would be throwing the baby off of the overpass.

While this was unfolding, a woman happened to be driving by, and she just couldn’t pass by when she realized there was a little child there- and she was clearly in danger.

“I couldn’t just pass after I saw the baby,” said Christine King, reported 6ABC. “And after I seen him trying to throw the baby over, I couldn’t let it go.”

The woman pulled over and approached the man, who was clearly not calm enough to have a discussion with either her or his ex.

The Good Samaritan got closer to the man and tried to take the baby from him, while the child’s mother was also trying to pull the baby towards her at the same time.

“I put my hand around the baby to pull the baby from him while she was trying to pull the baby too, and I said, ‘Give me the baby,’” said King. “He said, ‘Get off my baby, I will shoot you. I will shoot you.’”

Indeed, the man had a gun in his pocket, which King had not seen until the other woman took it away from him.

As the man was shaking, he didn’t realize the woman put her hand in his pocket to get hold of the gun. Indeed, the woman took the gun and put it in her pocket.

Still, the man wouldn’t let go of the baby, until the police arrived. And when they did, it also took them some time before they managed to take the baby away from her father.

After assaulting a police officer who tried to arrest him, he was taken into custody.

The man, who was later identified as Raheem Murphy, 35, was held on $1.5 million bail.

He was charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, endangering the welfare of children, King, and a Pennsylvania State Trooper who responded to the scene.
