No matter who you are, flying on a plane tends to be a major inconvenience. Everyone is familiar with that frenzied “airport mood” we all get in as we try to get our bags checked, get through security and make it to our flight on time. Once we’re finally on the plane, there’s still the stress of getting in our seat, getting our bags in place and hoping there are no delays or complications. Still, all of these stressors are compounded whenever there are little children in the mix.

That’s what happened between one young mother and another angry passenger in New York.

The mother in question was 19-year-old Marissa Rundell who was traveling with her eight-month-old son Mason.

Rundell was traveling from JFK to Syracuse and was sitting in the back of the plane. After she got on, another woman came and sat in the row across from her and was upset. “She was the last one to get on the plane and I was in the second to last row,” Rundell told reporters at the Daily Mail. Shortly thereafter, the woman began swearing and saying that it was “ridiculous” she had to sit in the back of the plane. After a moment, Rundell asked the woman not to use profanity around her son.

Things only escalated from there.

The woman then swore at Rundell and a flight attendant named Tabitha came over.

After asking what the problem was, the woman began to complain about the crying baby on the airplane. Tabitha then offered her a seat on another flight which the woman said wouldn’t work for her schedule. After that, the woman demanded the attendant’s name, which she gave. “Thank you Tabitha, you may not have a job tomorrow,” the woman said. After that, Tabitha had had enough.

Just a moment later, Tabitha told the woman that a gate agent was coming to kick her off the plane!

For her part, Rundell was very pleased with how the flight attendants handled the situation.

Although air travel can be stressful, it’s important to remember that everyone on the plane is in the same situation. Though the details of the other woman’s situation remain unclear, taking your frustration out on another passenger—especially a passenger with a baby—is never ok. Fortunately, the air staff handled the situation as best they could.

Let this be a reminder to us all to be as patient as possible next time we fly!
