Juggling a new baby and your job is a challenge that working mothers face every day. While some jobs are completely supportive, others aren’t so great about the whole situation. Luckily for this new mother, she has a great boss that lets her bring her baby to work.

This baby is so adorable!

Her boss decided to snap a cute picture of the mother and her baby at work, with no idea that the picture would blow up

When Melody Jett Blackwell had her first baby, she ran into many of the challenges that new parents face. One was finding a balance of work and motherhood, but she quickly learned that she has an amazing boss.

She got 3-months off for maternity leave, when she did come back her boss was completely flexible and let her work from home while reporting in one day a week. She also let her bring the infant in on the one day a week so that she could breastfeed. On one of those days while at work with the baby, her boss snapped a photo and posted it to Facebook.

As soon as she posted the picture it started to spread on Facebook

The caption on the post was about working mothers, a topic that resonated with many women on the internet:

“Workin’ mamas. She makes it look easy. It helps that Baby Nora-Jo is so sweet and content just being with and near her mama. Would y’all mind sharing this? We need more small and large businesses to see this is doable and should be allowed more often!” Read the beginning of the post.

People responded and instantly began sharing the post

“The newborn months are so short. (She has transitioned to working from home mostly but comes in when we need the extra hands. She’s still breastfeeding and baby needs mama! She has many times for feeding breaks while they are in the office.) #WorkinMamas post a pic of you and your little ones while you work!”

In an interview with Love What Matters, Melody explains why the topic is so important

There’s a serious issue with the way some places of work treat their pregnant employees, luckily for Melody she doesn’t have to worry about that. The working mother spoke to Love What Matter’s saying:

“I know not every office and work environment is conducive for children and babies, but I think more places can be more flexible than they are currently. It helps tremendously with the cost of daycare. I hope that more moms in the future will get the opportunity that I have to get to spend every day with my baby but also contribute to the family income.”

After the picture spread, major news agencies began interviewing Melody

Everyone from Yahoo News to CBS News ran a story on the working mother who ‘makes it look easy.’ She’s truly such an inspiration to other working mothers, both with and without good bosses.
