Can you imagine, however, learning that your little bundle of joy is actually 9 bundles of joy?

For one young mother, 27-year-old Halima Cissé and her husband Abdelkader Arby, they were in for the shock of a lifetime when they learned just how many babies they would be having.

Even more shocking than finding out you’re about to have 9 babies, these two thought they were only pregnant with 7. It wasn’t until the birth that the other 2 babies made their presence known.

The family, originally from Mali, traveled to specialist doctors in Morocco and have been there ever since.

The babies were born via emergency C-section at 30 weeks and they were all very small, between 1-2 pounds at birth.

They spent the beginning of their lives living in incubators until they reached a higher weight and were healthy enough to live in the outside world.

One year has now passed and all 9 babies are flourishing, they recently got to go back home to Mali.

Abdelkader, the children’s father, had remained living and working in Mali with the couples 3-year-old daughter for the last year and he’s very happy that they are all reunited again.

Though the shock of having 9 1-year-old’s is still something he is getting used to, he says he’s happy to have his family back safe and sound with him.

“It’s not easy, but it’s great,” says the father who went on the say how grateful he is that they are all in perfect health.

All babies progress at their own rate, but each of these 9 siblings is doing very well and hitting their milestones appropriately.

“They are all crawling now.” the father relates, “Some are sitting up and can even walk if they hold onto something.”

The birth of 9 babies at once is an extremely rare phenomenon, so rare in fact, that the Guinness Book of World Records has gotten involved.

Halima and the children are now recognized as the only successful delivery of nonuplets in the entire world.

There have been other nonuplet births, but unfortunately not all the babies were born alive or they died shortly after birth.

The family has round the clock help from friends and family who are living near them.

These kind souls are surely a Godsend as the babies are not all on the same schedule, some will sleep when others won’t and some get hungry when others don’t.

Halima and Abdelkader will definitely have their hands full, probably for the rest of their lives, with their 10 children and they are grateful for any help they can get.

Soon enough the babies will all be running around, yelling and screaming to their hearts content.

The parents are doing their best to care for their children and, with the help of their community, will surely raise a happy and healthy horde.
