Parenting can seem like a competitive sport sometimes. And then there are the parents who are honest about what an exhausting (but rewarding!) commitment it can be.
No matter how you parent, you’re bound to have a few moments that you’d rather not have others see.
But of course, we even take photos of those moments now.
Here are 10 of them:
1. Catch me if you can
He doesn’t care if he’s in a fancy restaurant or fast food place. He’s going to run naked if he wants to!
Dad doesn’t look pleased about it, but he’s doing what he can to keep his temper and reign in his little one.
2. Fine dining
They went out to dinner with the little one. And the little one wanted to see the world upside down.
Maybe it’s time to leave and let other people have a nice meal.
3. Less glamorous than advertised
What I thought I would say as a parent:
“You are going to change the world.”What I say as a parent:
“Stop licking the window.”— MyMomologue (@MyMomologue) February 2, 2017
You had grand dreams when the children were born. Now, you’re just happy if they listen – and don’t ingest window cleaner.
Talk about lowering your standards!
4. Expectation vs. Reality
The classic reality vs. expectation photo. Well, it looks like his baby is having fun with the wrap, though.
We’re just not sure this is comfortable for dad’s shoulders.
5. Whoopsies
No one was hurt! They’re good parents, promise! They just need to settle down with the staged photos.
We’d love to know what this little girl will think of this photo when she grows up. We’d want to keep a copy to show our parents any time they tried to stop us from doing something silly.
6. What kind of day will it be?
Parenting: When you get to wake up everyday thinking, “maybe today will be the day I die of exhaustion.”

Parenting is rewarding but it’s exhausting. The lack of sleep, the need to keep a tiny person occupied and relatively happy all day AND keep them safe and secure 24/7 – it makes you wonder how people have done it all this time.
7. These things happen
Well, it is the zoo. And it did make for a great photo. It’s just too bad she wasn’t awake for the excitement.
8. Stop the insanity

Can we just accept that these photos don’t work out the way they should? Or can parent at least work on their arm strength before they try this at home?
And yes, the kids were fine.
9. Yet another insult
Parents put their bodies on the line for their kids. Sometimes it’s as a napkin.
10. Know when to fold ’em
Husband: So we’ve basically given up.
Me: On what?
H: *gestures to 4yo carefully piling spaghetti on his head*: Parenting.
