The news of a pregnancy always brings so much joy into the lives of the parents-to-be, the rest of the family, and their closest relatives. It’s always exciting when you find out there will be another addition to the family – one that will surely win hearts all over.
That’s precisely why family and friends don’t delay when it comes to planning parties like baby showers.
More than just a way to get people together to celebrate, baby showers are also great for helping the expectant couple prepare for their bundle of joy. The fun part about it is that you can do so much: make it a gender reveal, pick a good theme, plan a scrumptious menu, organize the gift registry, spruce up the party venue, and come up with hilarious games to break the ice and amplify the celebration.
If you’re expecting or someone close to you is, you can spearhead the party starting with these crazy baby shower games that everyone will surely love!
1) Labor or Hot and Heavy Movie?
The first thing you have to consider if you want to include this game is your audience. Will there be children present? If older relatives will be in attendance, too, will they find the humor in this or not at all? Once you’ve organized the guest list and you’re sure this game will be a huge hit, then it’s safe to include it. Basically, it involves printing out photos of women in labor and the faces of actors in sexy movies. Your guests will love guessing if the photo is for celebrating life or… something else.

2) Guess the Baby
You’ll need everyone’s cooperation with this one! At least a week before the event, ask the guests to send you a baby photo of themselves. Compile the photos and have them guess which kid it is. You can switch things up a bit, too. Include a recent photo of each guest to make it a matching type, or throw in some celebrity baby photos for added confusion. It can be tricky but it’s great for breaking the ice and getting guests to mingle and laugh.
3) DIY Alphabet Book
What a great way to get the people closest to you involved in your child’s learning! Print out pages for each letter of the alphabet (and maybe some composition notebook-inspired lines) and have each guest draw an animal or object for that letter. Once you’ve completed the alphabet, you can laminate each page and put them in a binder so your child can have a very personal “first learning book”.
4) Time Capsule
This is one gift for the baby that you’ll have to wait more than a decade for until you can get him or her to open it, but that’s what makes it special – your guests will surely bring memorable items for it. You can even include polaroids of the parents with a description written at the back. There is nothing more delightful than a personal gift that was put together with a lot of love and laughter.
5) Face Mashup
It’s fun to wonder about what the baby will look like. Will he or she have mom’s eyes? Dad’s complexion? Since it’s impossible to tell, why not make a game out of it? Print out large photos of mom and dad, and cut them into strips. Your guests will be laughing out loud as they combine strips to make an odd-looking face – clean, inoffensive humor at the expense of the parents. Easy to prepare, too!
6) Mom Or Dad? Trivia
Get fun facts about mom and dad’s childhood (infancy, even!) and enumerate each one on paper. Beside each fact, put the words “mom” and “dad” so guests can easily encircle their guess. Don’t withhold embarrassing stuff because that’s what will help make this game a hit! Be sure to include cute, interesting facts that will serve as conversation starters, too. If childhood trivia proves too difficult, try present-day facts or a “He Said, She Said” version.
7) Say It On A Diaper
Getting up at three in the morning to change a diaper isn’t always going to be pleasant. Thankfully, your family and friends can make each diaper change a little sweeter and funnier. Have them write short notes on the outside of disposable diapers so you’ll always have something interesting and hilarious to read – a feel-good sight for the nights you’re feeling incredibly exhausted.
8) Decorate Onesies
A creative corner will be cute for a baby shower, don’t you think? Have guests draw and doodle to their heart’s content by giving them plain white onesies, Sharpies, and fabric paint. After you wash the onesies, you’ll have cute ones for your bundle of joy to wear. If there are too many onesies, you can frame some for nursery decoration. Some can go in the time capsule, too!
9) Baby Songs
Hand out some pen and paper and have guests enumerate songs with the word “baby” in the title. Make sure they name the artist, too. If you feel like this is too challenging, have them fill in the blanks instead. Provide song titles with missing words and whoever completes the list first gets a prize. Then you can make it more fun by actually playing the songs and using them as background music for the festivities.
10) Baby Shower Bingo
Watching the parents open presents isn’t exciting for everyone. You can keep everyone entertained with a game of bingo. The bingo cards will contain names of objects and if you successfully cross out five in a row, you get an awesome prize.
Now that you’ve got a lot of ideas, you can put the rest of the details together with ease. The parents-to-be and their family and friends will definitely have a great time. Imagine how funny and cute the photos will be!
Say goodbye to awkward pauses and dull moments with these delightful baby shower games.
