Kids (and their parents) are so excited to find out how much Halloween candy they’ll get every year.

One of the thrills of Halloween is coming home and counting out how much candy the bags held. And the kids (and parents again) have such a fun time eating the candies and chocolate afterward. Never mind that everyone will be hopped up so much on the sugar.

But sometimes too much is too much and no matter how much they try, they cannot finish all the candy.

What to do with all the leftover candy now?

We’re sharing 15 ways to make sure those leftover candies don’t go to waste!

1. Freeze it

Freeze the candy. You can enjoy the candy and chocolate all year long. You can add it to your milkshake, ice cream, and yogurt. Just make you portion it out before freezing so you don’t have a problem using only what you need when you need it.

2. Trail mix

You can make your own trail mix with the chocolate. Have an extra bag of M&Ms, Smarties, or chocolate-covered candies in your bag? Empty it into a bowl and add oats, nuts, dried fruits, and sunflower seeds and you got yourself your own trail mix!

3. Stash it in your purse

Moms carry big bags because they need everything in their house and then some inside their bags, in case their kids need something. And one thing kids need all the time is snacks, lots of it. So store those candies and chocolate in your bag in case they cry that they’re hungry next time. Or they can be for you when you just need to eat your stress away.

4. Bake your favorite cake

Bake a simple cake and then top it with your leftover chocolate. It’s going to be sugar and flavor overload so make sure your cake is simple and not over the top. You can top your cake with peanut butter cups, chocolate wafers, chocolate bars, and chocolate candies.

5. Homemade flavored vodka

Are you a fan of flavored vodka but don’t want to spend a lot on just one flavor? Get the plain vodka and make it last longer. Get a couple of glass bottles and add your favorite candy, like Jolly Ranchers. Top off the glass bottle with vodka and leave it for a few days so the flavors infuse together.

6. Cafe Mocha

Craving for cafe mocha or hot chocolate? Use the chocolate you got last Halloween! Heat it on a double boiler on the stovetop or in the microwave. Add the melted chocolate to your cup first then top with coffee or steamed milk.

7. Christmas cookies

Plan ahead with your Halloween candies and chocolate. Figure out which ones you can use for Christmas cookies! Or Christmas brownies, Christmas brownies, or Christmas cake. Or you don’t even need to wait that long. You can plan ahead for your Thanksgiving dessert, too.

Anyone selling a birthday soon? Celebrate the birthday whether in person or virtually. And have crafts time! Make your own candy necklaces or candy artwork. Or, if you want to keep it food-related, design your own smoothie bowl, cookies, or cupcake with your candy and chocolate.

9. Food donation

If you have a loooot of leftover candy, you can also donate them. It’s not the best food to give but there will be families on the receiving of these donations. And these families will have small children. It would be nice if they get a treat every now and then.
