When a man wants to take a woman out, it’s not common for him to walk up to her parents and ask permission. Usually, this only happens when a marriage proposal is in the works. But you have to admit, it will always score major points when a potential date knows just what to do to get on your family’s good side.

Just when you think your life couldn’t get any worse, here come two six-year-olds with better love lives.

Cooper Traxler sure is something. He met Natalee Olsen in kindergarten last year and they eventually became best friends. That’s how it all starts, doesn’t it? There are just way too many books and romantic comedies about that. Unfortunately, the pandemic and the demands of virtual learning meant the two had to temporarily part ways.

But Cooper didn’t see that as a sign of defeat.

Even though they saw less of each other, Cooper knew just what to do when Valentine’s Day rolled around.

And that was to ask his best friend out on a date.

Of course, like a true gentleman, Cooper politely sought permission from Natalee’s folks.

It happened on February 11 in a pizza parlor where the two youngsters and their parents met up. Cooper asked if he could take Natalee out on a date. Cooper’s mom and dad, Josh and Jamie, were more than supportive. So were Natalee’s parents, Ciara and Tom.

The universe was rooting for Cooper, too because apparently, even a stranger took care of their transportation.

The anonymous sender dropped off a Power Wheels Dune Extreme in Josh’s truck after seeing Jamie’s Facebook post about Cooper wanting to drive Natalee to McDonald’s like a true grown-up.

The impressive gift came with a note, too, signed by “a hopeless romantic”.

When the big day finally arrived, you can guess just how stylish and adorable Cooper looked, driving up to McDonald’s in his sharp, neon-green vehicle. Smooth,Cooper. Very smooth.

They were even escorted by a patrol vehicle with Lt. Steve Fox behind the wheel.

Dressed for the occasion, the pair walked inside the restaurant to enjoy good food together. (You wish your last date – or your next one – could be this incredible.)

Cooper definitely knows how to navigate life. Aside from the impressive way he asked for permission to take Natalee out on a date, he also has a pretty clear picture of the kind of future he wants. It involves him being a K-9 handler for the police. This he was able to somehow experience during his date with Natalee when Otto the dog and his handler paid the young pair a visit.

Sigh. Don’t you wish life could always be this feel-good? Who knew a couple of six-year-olds would be responsible for all the warm fuzzies we’re feeling right now after hearing their story?
