A couple from Arizona welcomed their little bundle of joy after suffering from 19 heartbreaking miscarriages.

Cary and Tim Patonai experienced 17 miscarriages. From all in between their children and 2 more the past year, 2 of the miscarriages were twins. It’s been super tough for them, especially for their eldest, Devlen.

But this month, little Finnley arrived weighing in at 14.1 ounces.

He’s double the size of an average newborn!

“Finnley was a little celebrity at the hospital. Everyone wanted a selfie with him,” Cary recalled. “The OB/GYN who performed the C-section said that in 27 years he had never seen a newborn that size. There was so much excitement in the delivery.”

Finnley was two weeks early. Measuring 23.75 inches long, this chunky baby is tall!

If he arrived on his due date, doctors say he would have been even bigger.

“They got him on the scale like, ‘14.1, I’ve never seen it that big,’” Cary, 36, told ABC 15 Arizona. “The doctor and one of the sweetest nurses there, they were all taking selfies with us. They asked permission of course, but they were just so pumped.”

“Fetal macrosomia” is a condition in which a baby is larger than average. 9% of babies in the world have them.

The babies are at risk of obesity and metabolic disorder. Obesity, maternal diabetes, or excessive weight gain during pregnancy are all possible causes of this condition.

Since the baby is larger than average, doctors will advise delivery via C-section.

No one in that hospital was expecting an arm workout that day that’s for sure. And dad’s got to build his strength!

Cary is used to babies but her Finnley is a little more than the usual!

“It got to the point where I could hardly move. It would take me 30 minutes to recover from taking a shower,” she said.

Devlen, her eldest at 10, weighed 8.2 pounds at birth. Everett, at 2, was 11.11 pounds. Finnley shattered the family’s records and even doctors had a workout with this baby!

“When [Everett] was born, he was in my doctor’s top five of the biggest and I was like, ‘Just you wait, I’m gonna get to the top of the list, totally joking two years ago. And then we accidentally did it,” she said.

Finnley isn’t even 30 days old yet but is already wearing onesies for 6- to 9-month olds. He wears diapers for babies ages 2 to 8 months. He’s got quite the appetite too!

Finnley drinks four-and-a-half ounces of milk.

Finnley is “snuggly” and “a great sleeper” according to mom. Dad thinks his son is a future athlete.

“He’s gonna be a football player,” the proud dad said. “Get him in those pads.”

Cary and Tim have to be the happiest parents in the world right now. After suffering from 19 miscarriages, they now have a supersized baby boy who has taken over their hearts.

You have to admire their spirits. Tim is one supportive father and Cary is one tough mama for carrying and delivering a baby that size. Finnley is only going to get chunkier!
