If you asked 100 people the top things that put a smile on their faces, you’d likely hear several of the same answers. That might include a rain shower, the smell of freshly cut grass, and a baby’s laughter. Of these, the last one always touches the heart.
The challenges of parenting
As any parent of a small child knows, there are always challenges. Usually, they’re because of a fussy baby, whether sick, tired, or hungry. But on the flip side are all the joyous occasions of being a mom or dad, including when a baby can’t stop laughing.
Early humor
Even small babies understand humor. That’s why when someone makes a silly face or noise or blows bubbles on their neck, they respond by giggling. Well, as one mom discovered, her infant found something she did particularly funny.
A simple gesture
In a video posted on social media, which has now garnered more than 170,000 views, you see a mom holding her baby boy in her lap. She picks up a pacifier and then offers it to him. But he doesn’t appear to be overly interested in it.
Taking a different approach
Trying to encourage her son to take his pacifier, the mom places it in her mouth. You can see the baby’s eyes follow as she moves her hand to her mouth. Then for a few seconds, he stares at her as though he’s totally confused.
A little giggle
Not sure what to make of the situation, he watches as she sucks on the pacifier. Then, he lets out a tiny giggle. But that’s about to change and in a very big way.
Her next act
With her baby still watching, the mom quickly yanks the pacifier out of her mouth. That’s when it happens. This precious baby boy starts to laugh, really laugh.
It’s infectious …
… his laugh, that is. He’s laughing so hard and so loud that his mom gets tickled. Before long, both of them are cracking up at something so simple yet so adorable.
Let’s do it again
Just as she’d done before, this mom raises the pacifier to her mouth with the plan to pull it out quickly. But she gets so overcome with laughter, she can’t get that far. She then looks to whoever’s filming with the biggest smile on her face.
A rip-roaring response
After several attempts, she finally gains her composure. Again, with her baby watching, she puts the pacifier in her mouth and then pulls it out fast. That’s when the baby really lets loose … he closes his eyes and continues to laugh hysterically.
“Watch this”
Someone new must’ve walked into the room at that point because the mom looks over and says, “Watch this.” So, she does the pacifier trick one more time. And just as he’d done already, the baby lets out a huge laugh.
His laughter is so funny because it’s a mixture of giggles and little screams. This is so awesome because now this mom has a wonderful memory of something she did with her baby. At the same time, she can show him the video when he’s older.
