The adolescent period is one of the most feared stages for parents. Nobody wants to see their child faced with the dilemmas of the real world, not to mention the common arguments about boyfriends, driving, and sex that are bound to occur. Most of us try to hang on to our children’s childhoods for as long as possible— but as most parents know, kids grow up way too darned fast.

Before you know it, they’re off in the world, traveling with friends, and doing things you’re not aware of. And all of these joys? Generally, they’re accompanied by a whole lot of sass.

Now, don’t get me wrong. Not all adolescents have an attitude that would rival Beyoncé’s, and it’s not always a matter of age. Some people are simply born with the fiery spirit of a diva— and this is one of those people.

In this adorable video, you see a little toddler arguing with her father about why she should be able to go outside.

When the video begins, you hear her father tell her: “Dad said that you’re not allowed to go outside. It’s too cold!”

In the realm of psychology, this little girl’s language is known as babbling. While newborns can only communicate by crying, when they grow older, they start to coo and speak single syllables too. By about six to eight months of age, they can babble duplicated sounds (i.e. “bababa”, “dadada”), ultimately working up to the “babble language” exhibited by this young girl— generally around eight to twelve months.

An absence or substantial delay of babbling can indicate the presence of medical conditions or developmental disorders, but generally, babbling is a practice observed in all normally developing infants. As such, instances of baby sass are more common than you’d think. Another little girl named Heaven recently went viral when a video of her talking back to her mother was featured on The Steve Harvey Show.

In the video, little Heaven gives her mother a piece of her mind, swinging her arms and fingers. She won’t let mom get a word in edgewise, making for quite the little show. You can watch the video here.

Since being uploaded to Rumble, this little girl’s argument to go outside has been viewed more than a million times. How can you not love her feisty personality? Not to mention the way her dad humors her along the way.
